Landa vs Hotsy vs Other

Man am I glad to be here! Before I start i am in the beginning phases of starting my PW biz in and around Memphis, TN, currently getting licensed and insured and trying to find the right deal on a complete package. I know it would benefit me to build my own but personally I do not have time nor patience to do it as I have a full time job already and a 1 year old at home. I have a couple options of local vendors who build packages but I would like some professionals to chime in. First one is Cougar Chemical, mainly sale Landa Power Washers, Second is a Hotsy dealer both are kind of high for the minimal amount of stuff you get. Third is not local but Powerline Industries in Utah seems to have great packages but I’m not sure about them, all the reviews say great things but I’m skeptical anyone here familiar with them and can back them up? Anyways I look forward to hearing back from you guys. Also I have read multiple topics but most end up being guys who have built from the ground up. Thanks in advance.

It doesn’t get any better than the Landa SLT models

Alright I did forget to mention I have a slight budget. I can’t really swing 18k for a pressure washer alone haha.

What size are you wanting? A pghw usually runs around 7500 and a SLT 8 gpm around 9500

What size machine you looking for, hot water or just cold, etc. Part time or full time once you get equipment? What market are you going after?

Part time to start and if it takes off I will go full time. But for now I have insurance through my employer for my family. But I am trying to go at least 5gpm or more and hot water as a selling point. I will probably start out residential, until I get my name out more, doing driveways and houses. I would like to get into fleet vehicle washing and commericial parking lots and gas stations in the future. Residential kind of seems like it can be a nightmare with picky customers but I guess that could be anywhere commercial or residential.

I guess I should say I am trying to stay below 10k on my budget.

Dont need hot water for residential… its not really a selling point.

$10k will get you a pretty good set up if you spend money wisely. If part time, you dont need a $7k machine. Can get plenty of machine for $2k if going residential. A $7k machine and a $200 machine both take up space if not putting them to use. Put the money into advertising and everything else you need… trailer, hoses, reels, fittings, etc… and a few extra of most things.

And what does insurance through your employer for your family have to do with the business?

I think he meant his insurance is through his employer for his family, so until Pressure Washing takes off, he needs to stay at his job to keep his insurance for his family. Thus, making him a part-timer for awhile.

Now that makes sense…

Well my goal is to go full time I would hate to invest my money into something that will limit me on what I can do hence why I want a hot water. The quicker I can get into commercial stuff the better imo. After talking to the local Landa dealer there are a couple options he suggested 1) Landa PGDC 2) Landa PGHW. The first one has a 12v burner system and the second has a 110v generator I believe is what he said. Its about a $1000 difference. From what I have read the 12v can be unreliable at times but what is your guys opinions?

I don’t have experience with any other professional machine but I have a Landa PGHW and I think it’s a great machine.
