Ladder Safety

Kudos for having the courage to pass on something you don’t feel comfortable or ready for. It’d been the right decision if you didn’t get the flat work. That’s just an extra reward. :+1::+1:

I know you passed on it, but switching to my window cleaner brain I would be using a 28’ and place it to the right and left of that peak in the middle.

So for future reference you could have put the ladder in the peak of the second story (triangle shape area) with some ladder stand offs. You would probably need a 28-32 foot ladder of atleast 225 pound rating. It would be secure unless you are over reaching.

I know we all have to feed our families but now my 2 cents, if you are scared of ladders or going on roofs probably should not be in this business. I know theres lots of guys that say they do all the work from ladders but it all depends in what part of the country they live in (speaking from canada/us). The west coast have these massive, complex house that as much as we would love to do everything from the ladder we cant.

Without being negative i would strongly suggest paying for a fall arrest course. They are not cheap (atleast not here in vancouver bc) about around 1500$ and you are authorized to train your future emoployess but it should be able to give you a great starting point and build your confidence from there.

Come on guys, the solution is obvious: Lavado Drone, Roof Cleaning drone Soft Washing Roof Drone, Scorpion Drones - YouTube

Only $14,000, what a deal!

That’s crazy… perhaps it will be the future, but they’re going to have to work on that price and prove the durability of these drones. I have a strong feeling that $14,000 drone would be eaten up by SH in less than 6 months of regular use.

Nah dude, it’s made of reinforced high density polyethylene.

Some people can’t work out nozzles sizes imagine letting it rip with a drone lol.

You did the right thing passing. Some of the most successful PW I know don’t even own a 6’ step ladder and have never even thought of doing a roof. Gradually work into it, with some small little jobs if you think you may want to in the future. Plenty of small one story homes have dirty roofs too or I get people all the time that just need like the backside of their garage or part of one side that need doing.
