Karcher G 4000 SH pressure washer help

G4000SH pressure washer. This maybe stupid, but the loader valve on this washer, Where is it?
is that the piece right behind the knob I can turn to decrease or increase the output pressure?
If so, how in the heck can I get that valve out that’s behind the knob? I’m assuming the sleave that’s in front of the valve comes out first? I can’t get that sleeve out, if that’s the correct part.
Anyone have a video of how to do it, or suggestions on how to do this?

Thank you!

this help you? which disposable pump is on it?

Karcher discontinued these model because of defective unloaders. It would be cheaper to stick another pump on it than find parts to repair it.

I don’t see anything. Did you try sending a picture or something?
Thank you though

This thing I got back in the late 90’s, worked very well over the years, up until just this year. BUT, the unloader, is that what’s right behind the knob I turn to adjust the pressure? If so, how the heck do I get that valve out, because that first piece, sleave i think, is stuck. I can actually find the parts for this pump.

I dunno

That’s fine. Just trying to figure out how to get that sleeve out that’s behind that knob so i can replace the valve, just hard getting in there to that part.

My unloader only lasts like maybe 500 hours on my G4000SH, 20 years old though and the motor and pump still work awesome, starts one pull every time. Just that damn unloader lol. I just ordered a new one, I found it for $75 shipped, about the same price as I paid a few years ago but most sites list it for a little more.
I’m a few years late to responding but removal is easy for future reference to anyone. Take the knob off then unscrew the cover on the unloader. Screw the cover back on very slightly. Then connect the water and fire her up. This will pop the valve out, you’ll know right away and shut the engine down immediately after. Unscrew the cover and you should be able to pull the valve out very easily.
Make sure to lube the new one it’ll last much longer, I forget what you’re supposed to use but I think it’s lithium grease, you can look that up elsewhere like I have to next week when I change mine out.

Was also going to mention that until my pump completely dies I won’t be replacing it. $75 for an unloader every few years is fine with me. I run some real nice quick connect hoses and gun on mine. Replaced the carb bowl that rusted out. New air filter. Put on an inline fuel filter. New low oil switch. That’s about it in 20yrs. It also stays outside all year :joy:. The frame is starting to get some rust holes.
So yea, I could put a new pump on but I can’t see any inexpensive pump being as reliable and powerful as the original. For that I’d probably be paying closer to $1,000 maybe more. I saw some cheaper pumps being tested out and the power they put out was no where near the psi they claimed. And a cheaper pump that actually does put out close to 4,000 psi, can’t expect it to last long - instead of just replacing a $75 unloader every few years you’ll be replacing the whole pump for maybe $300-$500. Not sure. Just my 2¢. Maybe someone can recommend a reliable 4000psi pump for under $500.
