Just a few more things

I know, right?

50 houses a year is less than $20k if you average $300.

You guys gotta be doing more than 50, right? It just feels like a big number. If you’re averaging 1 house a day, 20 days per month, and 8 months out of the years that’s 160 houses.

I hope I do more than 50 houses! But this is my first year so I’m not averaging a house a day yet. I’d be more than happy with one house a day right now. It will get there and I’m being patient, but it does get a little frustrating I will be honest. I’m trying like everything to get my name out there and generate business, but its a little slower than I wish it was. I do have a good bit of competition as well.

Out of curiosity, what kind of numbers did you do your first year? I know you have been doing this for a little while. I’m invested and not planning to be one of those that jumps in and quits after a rough year. I’m in for the long haul and hope that with time I’m right there with you guys. Just curious what some of you guys that have been at it for a while did your first year.

I do about 200 house washes a year and about 500 total jobs, but my comment was how Will just “filled in” his schedule with 78 houses in one week, lol.

Call your competition and ask for work if you need it. Tell him you’ll leave his invoices and will work for 75% of the take. His business name is still out there and you make some money. Won’t build your business but it will feed your family. I did it with a super cool contractor that became a dear friend, Mark with Superior power washing http://www.spwnc.com/

Yea, I’ve been considering reaching out to some of my competitors. Haven’t done it yet though, but that is an idea. I’m still a full time fireman so I’m not worried about feeding my family, just want to grow my business. There should be plenty of work for all of us. I’m finding that some people are balking at pricing and I think my prices are pretty fair. Funny how they will pay a lawn guy $1000 a year, but balk at my $2-300 estimate. Maybe I should start offering to break my payment up in $50 increments! Haha. Only joking.

I clean on the weekends only. Full time job and a family of 5. Can’t leave the corporate world without health insurance and a nice savings account.
I enjoy cleaning, most of the time, and enjoy the business side. Probably going to stay around 50 houses until I can devote my day time energy to the profession.

Yah, we usually do 18-24 houses a week. Going to be our best week ever at $7900. We work 6-7 days a week though May and June.

If youve got two guys working for an hour and a half you have to multiply by two not divide. After typing that it’s occurring to me that you mighy be explaining how to do it in half the time. If thats the case then my bad.
