Is this mold or soot, stuck chimney

Because if you don’t have the mentality to own professional chems to begin with you don’t need to be in business. And ignore the post above about hot water. It is asinine to state that it cuts time in half. Hacks have inundated this forum. @BuzzLightyear @squidskc @Tim4 @Racer and the couple others that are professionals, call me if you need me. I think my time here is over.

I log on every three weeks to see if your patience has worn thin. It’s about time. It would be laughable if it weren’t so stupid in so many cases.

it does feel like amateur hour at the diy support group here sometimes.

I’m pretty easy to get along with and don’t get bothered by much, but it has definitely become a bit frustrating lately.

Also frustrating, is there are 3-4 “lurkers” who rarely contribute despite KNOWING what the heck they’re talking about because they’re frustrated too. I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with them via text, PM, or phone call.

They’ve got good info they’re hoarding because some of the new folks are content with shortcuts, make a ton of excuses, ask for a ton of advice followed with junk like “well… I would’ve.” or blatantly say they’re not going to take advice after asking for it.

I think it’s probably time for an internet detox here in KC too. I didn’t get it when I first got here, but now I do.

OK, I’m wrong. I’m OK with that. But don’t you see the idiocy associated with becoming emotionally charged on an internet forum, even when your knowledge has much more depth than others like me? GEEZ!

I DO have professional chems, thanks to the insistence of you, Brodie, Rick, and others. HECK, I’ll probably have a trailer and complete roof setup soon. My suggestion was assuming that the poster was without professional chems. WE ALL STARTED WITHOUT PROFESSIONAL CHEMS, DIDN’t WE? My limited experience has revealed that brick hides or absorbs the film and residue that not rinsing leaves behind on other surfaces. I started to begin a thread, “To Rinse, or Not to Rinse” about my inability to tell the difference on brick. After finding myself unable on jobs to tell where I had rinsed and hadn’t, I performed an experiment: I intentionally failed to rinse one area of my own brick, while rinsing the wall adjacent thoroughly. There is no difference between the two. NONE! SO, I still believe that DAWN on brick will leave no visible residue.

Could I be wrong? SURE! Is it worth you @Innocentbystander and my brother @squidskc Rowdie getting upset over? Probably not.

Probably not the most prudent course of action.

Did we…?

When you made your business business plan (after you did enough research to write the thing)… did you not read it?

Specifically:
the line in your budget called chemicals
the paragraph about suppliers
the description of the methodology, the service you are providing

Oh wait. You’re the guy than bangs on about me using drugs and being unprofessional. Why would you have a business plan!

SBA has an office in Norfolk @MrSparkleVA. I’ve been there. Business plan workshops are free.

Also, it’s not specifically the dawn, although that has been covered numerous times. It’s been compounding as of late. There are 5 or 6 people trying to legitimately help and 5 or 6 people that are asking for the advice without seeing if it’s available or then taking a dump on the advice with next to no experience.

You guys are creating drama out of thin air. Take a chill pill.

Hyperbolic statements like this cause drama. You know that, right? If this statement were true, then that would mean at least one of the guys you referred to as a professional, doesn’t need to be in business.

Y u so cynical, bro? You’re a good guy. People like you. No one wants you to leave. Think of all the hundreds of people who have taken your advice over the years, like me, that thank you for your input, and use it to better themselves, and in turn, the industry. Isn’t that a huge positive? Why get so worked up about a few people that go against the grain?

Im not sure that i really see much of a problem here. I certainly dont think the board is inundated with hacks. You dressed down awesomewash pretty good several times, and instead of him flipping you the bird and leaving, he is taking your advice. Same with MrSparkle. That’s pretty commendable on their part, IMO.

Are there a few rotten apples here and there? Sure, i suppose so… but it seems to me that the vast majority of people here want to better themselves… some just do it in different ways, or slower than others. We are all different. We are all flawed. Something to keep in mind the next time you (not you specifically, you in general… everyone) want to ‘put someone on blast’, as the kids say.

Is it ok to get a little annoyed now and then? Sure. But it’s an internet forum… annoying stuff is going to happen, especially with a forum that is this active. You want a forum where everyone is pro, and no dumb questions are asked, and everyone thinks like you do? Good luck finding one… and if you do, good luck getting more than a couple posts a week out of it.

It’s human nature to amplify the negatives so much that you let them overshadow the positives, even when the positives far outweigh the negatives. Cynicism and complaining can have a snowball effect. This place is not the cesspool you guys seem to perceive it as.

There are always going to be people asking questions you might think are dumb, or doing things you dont agree with. There are always going to be people that dont take good advice. Dont stress it… take a deep breath, and just roll with it baby. :sunglasses:

@racer seems to deal with the yin and yang pretty good. Maybe he can provide one on one counseling sessions for us. I can only pay in brass quick connects, though, so i hope thats acceptable.

I used some dawn to do my back patio while waiting on my Elemonator. But one of the first thing I read is to let the chems do the work and let heat or pressure do it where chems can’t alone. So I bought my machine and ordered my chems immediately. Some people either don’t do enough research or figure it will work out anyway with lower quality chems. That is the number one problem with starters. I jumped in here and got told idk wtf I’m doing, so I studied everyday. I still do.

I’ve been pretty frustrated lately. The lack of research on here is appalling some times. Before I ever cleaned my first roof I spent literally six months reading every single post I could find on every forum I could find. Joined as a paid member of the RCIA just so I could get to some of the good stuff. And I practiced a lot. I learned about all the chemicals, various mixes, way to apply, literally everything I could before I even made the decision to do it. And by the time I was ready to make my first post I didn’t ask any real stupid questions because I’d already knew most the answers. So yes, sometimes it’s really frustrating especially when you’re trying to help someone. I’m just old enough to not give a crap sometimes.

I am not really understanding the need for a business plan. Every successful business owner I know never made a business plan.

Business owners ranged from blue collar to white collar.
