Sealed these two driveways 3 days apart. Did the exact same process on both to clean sand a seal with ure seal. Is this efflo? Can you remove it with f9 barc even after its sealed or does it need ti be stripped first? I think the pavers are 4 or 5 years old and it wasn’t there when we sealed them initially. Customer stated she noticed after 2 months. Also wondering if it may be from something else. Thoughts? (Top photo is good one)
To me that looks more like haze from your polysand. Did you notice any areas where water pooled?
Its silica sand and before the sealer was applied we make sure it was basically all dry. Located in Florida
Could be moisture trying to escape. I don’t know Ure seal, but if it’s xylene based you can get some straight xylene, spray it on and it may let that moisture escape. There was just a post here recently by @dcbrock about something similar if I recall correctly
found your problem.
It needs to be bone dry and if its rained recently and humidity levels are up then its not. You need a nice long weather window of dryness to achieve professional results sealing masonry.
We’ve done this multiple times. In the exact same conditions. Other houses in the neighborhood have the same problem and they’ve been done previously. It’s just very strange
Maybe your product is bad then but from the picture it just looks like a very common problem that occurs when people try to DIY seal their driveway, they didn’t wait for good enough conditions and now moisture is trapped releasing from the pavers and hitting the sealer barrier from underneath. A quick way to determine if your masonry is ready to do an easy saran wrap test…
Fixing it is kind of a pain in the ■■■ but not too bad for a pro. If its acrylic then you need to reactivate the sealer with xylene or some other solvent that will reverse the cure. Then you basically reapply while its down and hope the moisture releases during the second cure. If you were riiiight on the edge of too much moisture when you applied then there’s a really good chance it will work but if you really went for it with bad humid conditions then you’re going to fail again.
I use a fair amount of Ure-Seal. Here’s a novel idea. Send the pics to them, they’re in FL as you probably know and ask them. Always found them to be helpful.
