I think like everybody else I’m just sick and tired of running out of room, doesn’t matter how big I go I seem to run out of room… this is merely just an opinion but is there such a thing as too big of a trailer would you imagine? I already have a 7 x 10 dual axle and I have a 7 1/2 x 14 dual axel… and I never have enough room… I was just haphazardly tossing the idea around about getting a 20-foot and putting 2 300 gallon tanks on it seeing as how I figured a 20-foot I have plenty of room to build it out!
It depends on where you work. A 6x10 has been a problem for parking for me when the summer season gets closer.
A 12 or 14 ft should be plenty. Got any pics of your setups??
@Coolunderpressure…dont laugh too hard most of the pics are pretty crappy…the skid in the back of the white truck is a hilarious work in progress…i got it super cheap and I’m going to use it as a softwash system…its got a honda with a Hypro pump…a little more work and we’ll see what that will do
and I’m not actually sure how that last pic got in there but that is part of my interior kitchen cleaning trailer mount I built… the motor was getting a carb and oil change…lolWhy you carrying so much water? You’re in Summerville, water everywhere down there.
@Racer there’s only one of those on the trailer now lol it’s an old pic…but I think I want it back…I do a bunch of monthly restaurant cleaning and there’s only 2 stores that i do that have an exterior hose bib and one tank only lasts a little over an hour… but ive got my hydrant water use permit in hand, but it’s a pain in the ■■■… whether you use the hydrant or not you have to send in a log by the 10th of every month if you don’t send it in or you forget they charge you $100
I swear I put A $$ and it blocked it lol.
And It seems like everything I’ve been getting lately has been a no water hookup onsite situation…I’m half tempted to buy a old 20ft equipment trailer and put 6 275 gallon totes and a single belt drive and some hose reels…just because lol
That would be a PITA, doing that log every month.
That’s what I’m saying… yeah if you look at the Form you have to pay a water use permit fee of $100 each additional hydrant tag is $25 and you have to log and record date location volume oh yeah and you have to call Summerville Public Works prior to any water used to avoid conflicts with other water use systems
Most restaurants have a water hookup on the inside. I would try and gain access to those and only carry one tank. 2 tanks is like half the trailer. Personally I wouldn’t touch a reoccurring account if they didn’t have water. Maybe once but not over and over. Also I had the same issue as you, then I learned to utilize vertical space. @Racer trailer build video on here does a great job showing how to maximize spacing by building vertical
I’ve used 20ft trailers and 20 ft flatbeds. Both were a nightmare in residential. 16ft has been the biggest I can use in residential areas without much issues.
@BTBPropertyService they definitely do have a water hookup on the inside and I have a master key to the franchise but I don’t like to open the restaurant up at 4am and leave a door unattended while I’m pressure washing by myself…I don’t want to be responsible for someone sneaking in while I’m working and stealing anything…which is normally when I do my cleaning…4:30 am gotta love those hours…i love those restaurant hot water hose hookups…makes the gum just jump off the pavement…lol
@florida_condo_cleani If I got a 20ft I wouldn’t get rid of any of my smaller rigs…id just add to…I love to have backups for my backups…lol…much to my Wife’s dismay !!
Ive never understood how/why so many guys run these huge trailers. What is everyone trying to carry?
Im using a 5x10 so with the tires sticking out its about 7 feet wide. I can barely make it between two parallel parked cars in some neighborhoods, and when i go downtown its even worse. If i went any wider, i would have to start knocking on door to get people to move their cars so i can make it down the street. I also park off the curbs, so that i can do a 16in section from the curb with driveway cleaning and im already sticking pretty far out in the street when i do that.
I would hate to tow a 16 foot trailer, plus have to back it into driveways.
My next trailer would be a 5x12 tandem, thats the biggest i would go.
@Donte55 I definitely understand tight downtown areas not wanting a big trailer, I’m just kind of thinking from a professional standpoint there’s a specific tool to do each job…you wouldn’t try to chop down a big tree with a hatchet…if you know space is limited use just the work truck…if you need more equipment a small trailer… if you need water and even more equipment a bigger trailer…I need to haul water sometimes…and can’t haul 600 gallons with a 5x10…but if I could find a happy medium without overkill it would be awesome…I tend to overkill things sometimes…I like to have backups for my backups…lol
