Is there a place for updates?

Hope everyone is having a fulfilling week. I joined this group a few weeks ago and just wanted to give an update as to what I’m doing and how I get started.

I owned and operated a dog boarding business for the last 12 years and recently closed that bysiness down. I no longer want to work with dogs but I still want to own and build my own business. After talking about it with my brother (who has a self built plumbing business for the past 20+ years) we saw the potential for a pressure washing business. He told me to watch a video on the youtube channel Upflip about Chase from Wizard Wash and his pressure washing business, he mentioned PWR and that’s what lead me to this community.

After going through a lot of information on PWR, I enrolled and recently completed Power Wash University 101, an online course that I found through Texas Pressure Washing. The class really helped organize all the information I was taking in (youtube, PWR, etc). I have the budget to invest $300 in the course and have also taken various online courses and knew what to expect.

I also read Pressure Washing 101 by Heath Felps. This the ROI from this book is off the charts!! Think of it like a reference guide and just keep going back! I will be using this book as a reference guide probably forever. I would suggest going through the book fairly quickly the first time, and then go deeper on the sections that apply to you current situation.

Special thanks Heath! (Texas Pressure Washing) #ontheshoulderofgiants

I am currently going through Coty Yarbrough’s how to put the rig together course and also am finding it valuable. (and also ForeverSelfEmployed(youtube channel).

I’m going to buy a Ford F-250 this coming weekend and then buy my pressure washer, water tank, SH tank, soap tank and other supplies in the coming weeks. So excited to get started!

I’m currently reading and would highly recommend: American Icon (audiobook), Principles by Ray Dalio, Great by Choice by Jim Collins. Jocko Podcast episodes 369 (and all of them in general, my favorite episode is 174). Anybody have any recommendations for books, podcast, youtube - anything valuable?

Thanks again for everyone on PWR who takes the time to help!! It makes a huge positive difference in my quality of life!

-Louis

Welcome. You would be better served to learn here for free. That’s where the Texas cat got the info for his book. YouTube, for the most part, is useless for what we do.

yeah, like the guy doing videos that everyone thinks is a pro cleaner with his stupid pvc softwash gun they all have now. Sprayed a window with a product that contained acid, turned and proceeded to talk to the camera for 5 minutes. He better get some revenue from youtube, hes gonna need it when the suits start rolling in.

Customer about 3-6 months later, hey my windows are foggy.

Acid etching is a real thing. Be careful youtube people

Make sure you have business before going too crazy with equipment. You always see brand newish rigs for sale because someone spent a mint on equipment but forgot you need to have customers to pay for stuff!
