Is it even worth cleaning my roof with housewash mix?

I have a 4GPM/4000psi Belt drive PW with General Pump. I am looking to only do housewashing with it, nothing with roofs, therefore I have no roof equipment. I was just curious if I had a say 1-2% housewash mix, would it clean a roof at all, or is it not even worth doing? It’s my house and it’s a small one story house, so I could easily reach the roof downstreaming from the ground, just wondering if it’s worth the time or will it probably not make a dent? Front part of the house has very new roof, the back part is pretty old and looks pretty dirty, so just would like to clean up the back part a bit if possible

No it’s not.

Like Harold said no. It’s a waste of time and money without direct application.

Will it work? Yes it will… but without direct application it will require you to put multiple coats down before its fully clean. People do it all the time but end up spending more time and money due to not having the proper equipment. You could always use a pump up sprayer if you want to clean your roof.

I’m only saying all this because it sounds like you have no intention to get into roof cleaning and are just looking to clean your property.

By “direct application,” do you mean like straight 12% SH with no water dilution at all?

About a 3-4% mix depending on how bad the roof is an example would be 10 gallons of SH and 30 gallons of water

Your house and small? 50/50 in a pump sprayer. It will take a few hours but will get you what you need

So literally just walk around my roof with a pump sprayer, right? It’s not a real high angle roof so that should be relatively easy to do. Any recommendations of an ideal pump sprayer, or are they all basically the same and I should just grab whatever Home Depot has?

Beautiful, thanks!

Even so, still be careful. Sprayer may put you off balance, and SH is slick.

The Irontron pump ups from Northern Tool for some reason shoot further. Heck they’ll shoot about 15-20’ if fully pumped.

Or you could go with something like this, buy you 50’ of 3/8 hose. Good for post treating, sealing, staining etc and doing roofs. Can just pull it around in a wagon.

Or just buy you one of their 2.2gpm pumps and make up your own. It’ll shoot 20’ easily.

Do you have a x-jet? They’ll work in a pinch. Definitely not as efficient as a 12v.
