Injector almost shuts off

I use the wide fan higher pressure nozzle a fair amount. Today I’m happily low pressure soaping along and switched to the high…but after the usual 14 seconds (200’ of hose) I was still getting a little bit of soap and it never did clear out. My wife turned off the ball valve on the soap tube and it ran clear again.

Is my nozzle the wrong size to completely shut off soap?

My soap won’t cut off with any nozzle on my jrod…I have to turn the soap off.

Just wondering, are you new to pressure washing?

New-ish, last October. Quite a few houses done so far.

This is a new injector they gave me for the 5.5 I just bought, maybe the o-ring is crapping out.

I have never been able to stop soap with less than a white tip…none of the nozzles I have on my jrod will stop it. I just turn it off and that stops it.

I gotta get in the bed…gotta be on a job at 5am.

If the o ring is missing in the injector it will shoot water into your HW tank, diluting it.

Guess I’ll have to check it tomorrow. Sigh.

Edit: got curious, took it apart and everything looked perfect. I cleaned it out with a q-tip anyway.

As discussed you really shouldn’t be using high pressure tips to soft wash. You should be using the same nozzles to soap and rinse. While you are rinsing your injector should be pulling water or closed.

Yes I know, but I’m not always soft washing and it defeats the purpose of a jrod if I have to run back to the trailer 300’ away every time I want to rinse.

What I do isn’t the same as you guys where you bleach, wait…and rinse. Pressure rinse tips are a necessity…and gasp I even used my high pressure shooter tip briefly yesterday. (Hint: I’m on roofs a lot).

I appreciate your concern though, you’ve been very helpful. I mostly rinse with the LP shooter and fan tips now…just have my wife shut the valve when I radio her.

Anyway, I just need to know why the soap isn’t fully shutting off. Probably need a smaller nozzle.

Nope I think you just need the @SchertzServicesLLC box lol. Soap needs to dwell for a good 5 mins so if your wife isn’t around I don’t see how you don’t have enough time to go shut off your injector. No matter how far you are from it… you can walk 300ft in 60 seconds or so. Pressure tips are not a necessity at all… Wait, why are you on the roof? You Cleaning windows while washing the house?

Here’s an example. 100 year old house in the historic area of Louisville. My 100’ supply hose barely reached the one spigot they had.

So as you can see, I’ll be darned if I’m climbing down that ladder, hiking back to the trailer, hoofing it all the way back up and rinsing. :ok_hand:

And you’re right, I probably do need a Schertz box.

And yesterday’s job.

The first pic is for my records, she knows about the paint peeling but I got a ‘before’ shot regardless.

Nice! Time to upsell that deck…lol. For jobs like that yea Schertz box would be useful or at least have your wife there to switch it for you. Those high pressure tips are enough to make a hole in the siding…not something you’ll want to deal with when it happens. Wishing we had more vinyl houses of that size in my area. All larger houses are stucco and brick around here

That’s because you Canadians have no clue what you’re doing. One minute it’s English, the next it’s French. Milk in a bag. No large vinyl houses.

Craziness.

That is stinkin’ hilarious. What I love most about it, is how oblivious she is to the panic she just caused :joy:
