In Person or Over the Phone?

I am wondering what strategy people are using for giving bids. I have always found my closing rate (in other industries) to be much higher when I am able to meet face to face to clients. I have used this strategy in my pressure washing business because my prices are in the upper range for the area and this allows me to better sell based on professional appearance and a high value proposition. However, I do see the value in saving time and fuel by giving at least rough estimates via phone or email. I am currently doing residential and small commercial work but I would love to hear peoples thoughts form all different areas.

If you have the time, definitely in person. I don’t have that much leeway as I also do window cleaning and running all over town doing ‘maybe’ bids gets old quick.
