Hello comrades! 3D design and printing is a hobby of mine. I made up a, I’m not sure if you’d call it a bumper or a holder for the Jrod tip holder. It fits very snuggly, I actually beat it on with a hammer. But it just fits around the welded part and has a hole in the end to put a lanyard or a clip. This way when I go to take it off, I can just hang it from my belt instead of sticking it in my pocket. Also works good for hanging it from the peg board in my shop or cliping it to the side of a milk crate i keep some gear in. It doesn’t interfere with changing the tips, if you need to. I’ve been using it for a month and a half or so and worked out the bugs and did a few redesigns. Anyway, it’s a handy gizmo. I just loaded the file to Thingiverse if anyone is interested in printing one for themselves. Enjoy!
Thanks! I guess it’s not super helpful for anyone without acess to a 3d printer. But you can use a service like shapeways.com or I believe UPS stores are offering some 3d printing services now.
I just used PLA. I’ve had really good luck with Hatchbox PLA. The ABS stinks up my shop too much, I keep putting off building a ventilation cabinet. Like I said, it’s a tight fit, but it should fit any jrod holder even with the slight difference in how they are welded. You’ll have to love tap it on with a mallet. Please post a made item on thingiverse if you make one!
Idk, let me know how it turns out. Might not hold the weight, I have a roll but never thought to try it. I had to make the sides as thick as I did so they were ridged enough. Let me know if you want me to tweak the design any.
