I am stuck with these stupid 1 gallon bottles. There are no bulk SH suppliers within an hour of me. My options are buying a pallet of 1 gallon bottles of 12.5 from a local pool store, or drive to Toledo to pick up a few 15 gallon jugs at a time.

They don’t have to be within an hour of you. Many of them sub contract the shipping of 55 gallon drums. Call some suppliers anywhere in the state or even states next to you. When you say Toledo are you in Ohio? If so ask Rick where he gets his. @Sharpe

I would also call some more pool stores. I’m getting towards the end of my season here so didn’t want to order another drum of sh. I swung into a pool store to buy some gallon jugs. Come to find out they even carry 55 gallon drums of it.

Took your advice and found a company in Toledo that will deliver a 55 gallon drum of 15% SH to me at no extra charge. I don’t have a way to handle 55 gallon drums though, lol.

They will probably have a Tommy gate. If so, just go get a floor dolly and shimmy it onto that and roll it into the garage. If they don’t have a Tommy gate then just put an old tire (off the wheel) on the ground and roll that drum off and let it drop on the tire. It will absorb the fall and you should be able to stand it up and get it onto the dolly then.

Man handle it, and get a good dollie at TSC.

Nice…I’m glad you found something.

You might have to let them know if you need them delivered with a truck with a lift. My place asked me the first time. I have them delivered to a local business where I know the owners. They have a fork truck there.

If anything just get an empty and transfer from one to another with a 12v or 110 pump. I have to load the fulls in the back of my truck from my buddy’s business and then transfer them to empties when I get them home. That’s a lot easier than trying to drop them out of the back of a truck.

Good idea. Doesn’t the sh destroy transfer pumps? I just assumed it would.

SH will eventually damage about any pump. Just be sure to flush it out afterwards and it’ll last awhile. Even if you unloaded the whole drum you’re still going to need a a pump to transfer it to your trailer or mix tank. A pump is the easiest way and how most do it unless you have a storage tank that you can gravity feed to fill containers.

Reviving an old thread here, but I’m on office duty all day today and tomorrow for full time job so lots down time right now and there just aren’t many people interested in calling the Park and Sanitation department right now thankfully!
Anyways, I just picked up my first “bulk” supply of SH today from a custodial supply place about 20 minutes from me. I got a 15 gal drum of 12.5+% for $47. I too have been looking like Chuck in a truck and am looking forward to getting away from that! Plus, crushing and recycling all those 1-gal containers got real old real quick.
I don’t own the actual 15 gal drum itself, but I’ll swap it out each time I run out. I had upgraded this spring from Clorox Outdoor to Pool Essentials 10% and was happy. I am really looking forward to this 12.5+%. And, it works out to about $0.70 a gallon cheaper than Pool Essentials. I was able to also score a free 7 gallon upright container that I think I am going to replace my traditional 5-gal bucket with when doing my HW mix.

Hello! Would you mind sharing some photos of your setup? Setting up my TOTE now.

Plenty of pictures in the trailer build topic.

There’s not much to it, really. Just a gator lock adapter from the tote to standard threads and and a few pieces of PVC and a PVC ball valve for a discharge. You’ll definitely want to have that.

OK. I was curious because I purchased one of the ibc tote setup rigs with flex but when I went to apply the coupling none of them fit. I sent a picture to PWS today and they informed me my output is weird. I’ll have to see if I can swap out the tote.

Your IBC tote will work. You just need the correct adapter.

Or, here’s one that goes down to 1" npt.
