That was some quick research. I wanted to cite it myself but you beat me to it.
To be fair, mine are strapped with two 3333lb ratchet straps and bolted through the deck of the trailer and an additional 2x4 that is perpendicular to the deck. It’s ridiculously solid.
Until they get UV damaged or chewed on by a rat lol
I’m not sure what the fmcsa says but I always thought they were designed to be hauled either completely full or completely empty. Not half full because of the sloshing. Idk I use a leg tank
Every truck ive seen them on they have never seen any straps even stacked sometimes
That’s true. I’m going to a leg tank for next season so they’ll only have one season on them. Well maybe a season and a half
I bolted a 2x4 frame perimeter around mine, and use 4 turnbuckles bolted thru the cage, and thru the floor. Yes’m it makes my rig look cheap to me, but I’d rather spend that $6-700 on equipment to make money, instead of replacing something that is 100% legal and functional.
Btw, @Innocentbystander
I’m just giving you h***. you’ve helped me more than you could imagine, and I can’t really return that favor, so I’ll just mess with ya instead
IBC tanks good for not much more than a year in the sun??? Good luck with them, I’ll stick to my XLPE horizontal leg tanks!
We’ve chalked the ibc bottoms to the trailer floors and never had a problem.
Heck no, just use some firewood.
That’s essentially how I did mine with the perimeter. I don’t have turn buckles but I can’t budge that thing no matter how hard I try.
Don’t forget to sink some long drywall screws through it. If it splits it’s ok just drive a few more beside it to crack it some more
Run it into a bridge pillar it will come loose. My tank hoops are 2-1/2" wide 1/4" thick flat bar stock and I run eight 5/8" grade 8 bolts. Each set of four underneath the flatbeds are going through more plate that’s welded to the I beams. I hope they stay put if one of the trucks ever comes to a sudden stop
LOL nah I’m good!
Y’all can’t confound me with facts. I’m narrow minded enough to believe what suits me.
We use 6 penny nails on everything, screws are to expensive.
8d or just forget it
When mine was on the big truck it was mounted with heavy duty U bolts and meal retainer plates under the bed. I’m not running a IBC in the new truck. Since I’m either building or buying a skid that holds everything I’ll be running a 100 gallon buffer and 50 gallon SH tank. I want to be able to yank it out with the forklift quickly so I can get to the gooseneck.
Be careful yanking things that truck is to beautiful to scratch up.
