This house is going to be painted again anyway, so it doesn’t matter in this case, but next time I do a house with soffits like these, how can I avoid bleaching out the stain on them?

Ok, I’ll avoid these types of soffits
Soffits are next to impossible to not get hit with the sauce, the way I do them is a pump up sprayer with water and soap, don’t be shy with it, get a good film on there and wash as you normally would taking measures to not get bleach on it. I do it with stained doors as well, more rinsing involved but I adjust the estimate for that. Normally i would let these go to my competition. I hate stain with a passion.
Best business advice you can get is what @Innocentbystander said, “walk”. I know it’s tough if your hard up for work but if not walk.
