I was just trying to get to $60k first. I tried to do a lot on my own and spent some of it delivering pizzas at night. Oddly enough I started earning more money when I started bugging guys like you and IBS and Racer after finding the forum.
The best money is spent on marketing and every extra minute spent learning about marketing is worth money. Maybe not right away, but there is a payback.
Marketing in which way. I have read that you are the king of home advisor… I do t know if it’s all true. But it have heard bad things about it as well. Do you suggest door hangers or what is your secret.
The problem with this scenario is that once you each a certain limit, then you have to spend a lot more on “non producing” employees and expenses to keep the monster fed unless you fine a niche like William. Salesmen, marketing, bookkeeper, secretary, more equipment costs and upkeep because employees aren’t going to treat like it’s theirs etc.etc. So add another $200k in costs to get and keep the 1myn coming.
A good rule of thumb from what I’ve heard from guys running multiple trucks is you want each truck to generate about $1500 per day when it’s out. But with weather, holidays, seasonal slow downs, etc. you have to be conservative on how many days you think they’ll actually be out.
One seminar I went to a number of years ago, don’t remember who taught it, but he was good with a lot of experience doing it, he said one man operation figure about 35% overhead, 65% profit. Once you go to multiple trucks it flips to about 65% overhead and 30-35% profit. So you have to reach that critical stage in demand to make the switch over.
Knowing what I know now I think I could make the same income working by myself. Less headache for sure. But out also feels good to help provide for my guys and their families. Cher knew what she was talking about. Need a go back then machine
Well it’s been several years for you I would really love to know what you did if you did anything if you kept banking or if you and your partner have about 5 or 6 trucks now
