How much income should I expect in my first year?

You already got 2 8’s. Get you 2 5’s and another trailer. The cost will be alot less than your first setup. Soap with the 5 and rinse with the 8. Again, I would try to split as soon as you can in the spring. Hopefully, your site will be on the first page google by then. Anya did my site and I’m on the first page for powerwashing chesapeake va in less than 3 months and the top of the second for pressure washing. Also, start saving as much as you can because in 2-3 months there are going to be some awesome deals on craiglist for the people who didn’t make it.

You need to rework those #s, maybe reverse them.

Aqua Clean, I see the desire you have to succeed and thats Important. In business there is good years and bad years just like months, sometimes the phone just don’t ring… And having to generate money for 2 pockets is just an added stress… If your already in, keep at it… And you will need to advertise to stay busy…

Good luck

John,

Hold on to the 9-5 if you get it back. If your business partner is also your friend he’ll understand that the 60 hours you’re putting in at work is for your family and will result in less hours on the business, therefore he’ll have to take on a bigger load. He’ll also understand that even though he’s taking on more responsibility in the business you are depending on him to grow the business for both of you, still with an even split in the Spring. But your heart has to lead you down the path of power washing. Because, in this business, no part-timers ever last. Eventually it has to be your everything.

You haven’t been offered another job yet, right?
Put your head down and bust tail. If you get offered another job you might be surprised at your response.

Hi John,

Simple answer is.....Anything is possible....but.....you have No marketing plan, No Visibility, No reputation........but......You're in an excellent high income, higher customer educated Market.....so the opportunity is there.

Now you said your PW business “Took Off”…define “Took Off”?..$3k a week? $4k a week?

I’m no expert, but no, as it stands right now you’ll never see 100k…Realistically somewhere around 30-40k gross.

Establishing your business, in your market will take at least 3 years…at least.

Starting a “New” business that you’re not very experienced in and depending on it to (help) provide for your family is…no disrespect…Insane.

Building & Growing a New Business will take all of your time for at least 3 yrs…that is if you want a successful business. That’s time away from your Wife, your Children…Life in general…Still Committed?

Start slowly, part time, until you grow the business to a point where you can step into it without it taking away from those that need you the most.

And for Pete’s Sake…get rid of the Partner!

A Business Owner Is Someone That Will Work A 1000 Hrs. A Week…So He Doesn’t Have To Work 40 Hrs. For Someone Else…Think About It.

Thanks for the words of wisdom…We actually do have a marketing plan that is small yet keeping us busy.

Were doing direct mail, Facebook, classified adds & Yard Signs. In addition I know ton of people in this area.

We’re going “ALL IN”…

Good Deal!

Go ahead and set yourself apart from “The Others”…get brochures…butt load of business cards… and start handing them out like candy. Knock Doors, Beat On Doors…Kick Them In.

Remember…Busy doesn’t always = Profitable…Stay Profitable, Not Busy.

Just Saying…

What skill set does your partner have that you do not possess?

Agreed, but business cards are overrated in my opinion. Smartphones have made them obsolete.

I don’t even carry a card because their pretty much useless. If they want my number I give it to them verbally and they have no option but to put it in their phone.

When someone gives me their business card it goes straight into the trash.

Ok, now let me get this straight…you go into a meeting with no business cards? RM, DM, or FM gives you a business card and you throw it straight in the trash? Someone asks you for a business card and you tell them you don’t have any but…“Here’s My Number, Put it In Your Phone”?

Wow you guys on the West Coast sure do business differently than anywhere I’ve heard of…Interesting.

No not that extreme, if it’s a client I will put there info in my system then throw it away.

I was talking more about when people try to sell me things. They hand over their card like I’m actually going to hang onto it.

I think email contact is much more important. Your signature info will be in there inbox forever and can be searched for…

Not everyone on the west coast does it that way! I think business cards are a great tool and something that people actually interested in your services will hold onto. I’ve had meetings with people and a few months later gone back and my cards still on their desk or bulletin board. Cards all the way. It’s another tool to set you apart from low ballers that typically barely have a cell phone.

“All In” is how it’s done.

Go big or go home.

I like it.

No generalizing here because I know plenty of “West Coast” guys who are doing great in the Powerwashing business. Ty Eubanks for one has 50 employees and yes I have his business card.

Business cards IMO is a must. Your going to leave money on the table if you don’t have them. Some people I know go to the extremes with their business cards where they leave them all over the place. They leave them at restaurants they go to, stores they visit, etc etc and they do get work from this process.

Here’s an example of a great reason to have your business cards at your disposal and this is one of my best reasons. Your company just finished Powerwashing a house and the home owner loves it so much that she ask for a bunch of your business cards so she can hand them out to her neighbors. This happens to us a few times a year. No business cards at your disposal here and your definitely leaving money on the table.

All in? As long as its not like the episode of Bar Rescue when the guy kept saying all in, only to get fired at the end of the show. Lol

Would you guys say its better to start your own business or buy a failing one? I’m in a similar boat as this guy… My interest is more of stability at home… My current career keeps me gone… I went to stay home and be my own boss.

Why is the business in question failing? If it is a bad reputation or poor quality work, why would you want to buy/keep his name?

I would just be interested in the equipment and any potential contracts/customers that would need work… The name would be changed…
