How long would this take you?

There are 5 buildings that are 150 ft long and 3 buildings that are 100 ft long. All the same style, 2 story. Decks are not included. Also 8 garages that are each 75 ft long.

My quote was already accepted and I told them it would take about 3 days but I’m not exactly sure because this is my first large job. Also should mention I’m working solo with a 5.5 gpm. How many man hours would you estimate on this one?

Depends on your equipment. Why not get a helper for a few days, just to tape and pull hoses - plenty of hs and college kids around.

5.5 gpm, I would get a helper but wouldn’t I have to get workers comp and stuff? I’m still just a sole proprietor.

If someone is on your jobsite, they need to be covered under your WC and insurance. Figure 3 man hours per building, 10 minutes per garage.

Three days is plenty of time. What are you doing for water.

Is that 3hrs with 5.5gpm equipment?

Each building has a spigot in the back, probably going to park my truck between the buildings where the garages are

One guy with one 8gpm is one long day or two short days.

Two guys with two 8gpm is half a day.

One guy with 5.5 gpm is two days min.

Excited to get an 8gpm once the season ends

According to IBS…your figures are off…and he probably knows more about this type washing than anyone on the forum.

According to his figures…about 25hrs…that would be 2 fairly long days…unless you work around the clock.

2 hours for us. I figured it would take longer with the smaller machine

Those buildings are two hours a piece with one experienced guy and the right equipment.

No decks, no surface cleaning, and straight forward vinyl siding with alot of space to move.

I would take jobs like that all day everyday.

Dont overthink s hit.

Equipment and experience are the key elements.

ide allow 3 hours per building as well with a 5.5. Time for hose management and moving trailers/trucks should also be factored in when doing estimates.

Wait the complex doesn’t already require you to have WC? Did they give you a SOW work sheet?

You will most certainly be required to have WC…you can get a ghost policy to cover yourself if you work alone. …it would not be expensive.

They are having me sign a “Simple Hold Harmless Agreement” because I don’t have workers comp

Do not sign a hold harmless agreement. I’m sure you thought about this, but hypothetically if you sign a hold harmless agreement and allow them to disclaim any liability AND one of your workers does in fact get hurt on the job, you and your business would/could be in some deep doo doo.

I’m solo I don’t have employees, is this still something to consider?

I apologize - I thought I read that you had a helper/employee. If it’s just you doing the work i guess it’s kind of a roll the dice type situation. As a general rule, i personally wouldn’t sign a hold harmless, but to each his own with regards to their business practices. If you do end up signing it, make sure you re read it a bunch to ensure that they cant withhold payment for any reasons. With that said, a payment breakdown should have been outlined in your quote, i hope.

Ended up taking 3 1/2 days. The board members are thrilled and want me to do it annually, definitely a nice confidence boost
