How do you clean chipping concrete

Hey guys, I have tried to research this subject and guide me if I am wrong I just havnt found any answers. So my driveway at the house I live in was poured about 3 years ago and has tons of chipping on the surface. You can run a garden hose on a spot and after a few moments it begins to breakdown/chip. I am assuming high pressure would really cause some damage. Can you clean concrete surfaces with just chemical/or what do you suggest? A lady called me today and wanted a patio done that has some chipping. She said she had to have the last pressure washer guy from last year to stop midjob. Do you think he was using a SC or possibly bad technique? … Should I walk or just tell them I can only hit the bad spots with chemical/rinse?

You could use a roof mix, then a light rinse, but that concrete shouldn’t be so brittle, Can you even drive on it?

Ya what he said👆. Just explain that because the concrete is damaged all you can really do is apply a strong solution and rinse it off. Id probably rinse with a fanning soap tip or x jet or something so you can still apply a little pressure.

This chipping from a water hose makes no sense

I know right, but ill take some pics tomorrow its crazy, whoever did this drive did something wrong

when you say water from the hose is chipping it, do you mean when you freeze it in 100lb blocks and drop it off the roof!?

If not, I hope you don’t own that driveway.

No I mean if u take ur garden hose. just spray in 1 spot . itll begin to break down and chip the top layer off. seems like certain spots does this.

similar to that yes but not as severe

The risk far outweighs the gain in this scenario. It isn’t a smart decision for you to do any work on this driveway.

Unless it’s your driveway or a friends, but don’t set your self up to get scammed. Like the gentleman said above, a roof mix would fix it and then just let rain do the rest.

If it’s a retail customer I think you are setting yourself up for failure, and also starting bad habits of taking whatever comes your way hoping for the best.

I’m brand new, I don’t know much, but I know I have turned down about a half dozen jobs this year because it felt like I was thinking about it too much…,

Sell her on an overlay following pressure cleaning. That situation is exactly what concrete overlay is designed to repair.

Bad concrete followed by heavy use of salt? Run.
