I see there is veneer and faux brick and stone available to put on homes and some are hand painted stone anyone have experience with these and how to clean them thanks
What has your research led you to believe? Have you contacted the manufacturer for their cleaning recommendations?
No manufacturer in particular just wondering what everyone’s experience is with it in general does SH fade the color off ect
I used search bar and no dice
well, for starters, you are talking about different things. No one on here will give you advice on how to clean fake stone unless they know what it is. There are manufactured stone, which is basically portland and stuff made to look like limestone, flagstone, etc, then there is vinyl, normally insulated, that comes in panels to look like stone, then there is actual stone faces that are attached with mortar and a scratch coat on diamond mesh, then there are panels comprised of stone that are screwed into place then you add decorative mortar to some.
So, find out what you are working with first, then contact the manufacturer of said item. Cement is cleaned with SH, vinyl is cleaned with SH, does that mean to use SH on every decorative stone/brick facade you see? Short answer is no. The second best answer I can give you is do a test spot in an inconspicuous area.
If there was one answer to solve all these questions, there wouldn’t be a need for professional cleaners. You may, or may not, want to learn a little construction. It helps when tackling things to know how they are made and what they are made of. All this being said, to each his own. If you run into an issue with a particular surface, post here, there are some knowledgeable people on here regarding different stone surfaces. You can also read all you want on the government site that racer (I believe) posted before.
I have the time to answer your question because work is slow, the stupid paper ruined my ad two weeks in a row. Some people that post here are busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest, and may not respond.
i wouldnt go high pressure right on top of them…maybe a little house wash mix and a 40 degree tip and only get as close as necessary to clean…be careful of start stop lines just like a fence (finesse)…some manufactured stones are extremely soft…some are like concrete.
Well thank you for that answer I will be doing research on all of that at least I have some direction on where to start very much appreciated
Thank you will keep that in mind
As others noted try the mfgr site look for a toll-free number and ask their help desk. Tell them you want to make their product look good long term which is a true statement in every case anyway.
