How do I remove the pully from my machine

I’m trying to swap pumps. I have an old pump I need to remove and I don’t know how to get the pully off the pump shaft. Maybe it’s rusted on but it won’t budge.

See them other 2 holes besides the bolts you just took off? Take your 2 bolts and run um in those threads, It will push itself off using the collar. Ps. Soak in Pb blaster/ Wd40 for a lil bit before wrenching it off. Tighten one bolt a lil the next bolt a lil till she pops off.

Thanks guys!!

Now run a bit of tape or something to hold that key to the shaft so you don’t lose it lol

I like using anti seize on the shaft before reinstalling.

Yes. Always properly lubricate the shaft prior to installation.

Now I can’t get this off my General pump. Tried the screw thing but it won’t work. Poking through belt cover.

Are there any set screws in the side? Make sure you have all of them loose. After that it’s just a matter of pulling or knocking it off. It probably takes a special puller. I’ve had to make some to get flywheels off. The bolt holes are probably used to pull it off but the puller will push off of the center of the shaft.

Something kind of like the puller below. You bolt it to the bushing and then turn the center bolt and it pushes against the shaft and pulls it off.

Interesting thread. I’m considering a 5.5 to 8gpm swap soon.

Poor belt guard, It didn’t even have a chance, You get it off ?

like @marinegrunt said ,set screws out. Then a small flat cold chisel in that slot will help break her loose, That be your special puller lol. Remember, Tappy,Tappy ,Don’t Neanderthal it to hard.

Haha. Tappy, tappy went out the window after 2 mins. I beat the crap out of that guard trying to get it off. I didn’t see any set screws. It’s moved a lot but still isn’t off. I got so fed up I started tearing my truck bed build to move into the trailer till my wife straightened me out. So I had to rebolt and plumb that machine back to the bed. Lol
I’m gonna go at it again tomorrow night.

Tap a chisel in there it will widen up and pop off the shaft.

I’m going to get longer screws to see if I can use them to get it off like you mentioned in the earlier post. The screws that came with the machine are too short and cause my socket to bottom out on the shaft. They were also tearing through the belt guard.

I did pry it a little but I was worried it would not go back and the screws wouldn’t align. You think it will go back?

Could also put a torch to it to heat it up.

Torch didn’t work.

Yes. Im sure. Don’t beat it to death though, Its got good memory but brittle.
