Household bleach removed oxidation?

My house wash went like normal, all the black mold and algae was removed and dirt on the gutters and soffits were removed as well. Customer had oxidation (tiger stripes) on the gutters which I told him cannot he removed in our housewash process but I do have the chems to remove it and I explained that process to him. Well after service when I’m showing him the home and ready to collect payment, he goes inside, and grabs this bottle instead and a ladder

He did one spray on the gutters and whipped the oxidation right off… I’m shocked. I felt like an idiot infront of the customer but that made zero cents to me.

I had a house wash right after him so I could go and do all the oxidation removal on the gutters so I discounted him $20 due to me “not cleaning It”
Can anyone explain?

I applied my soap to that gutter like normal and used my high rinse nozzle directly on it to “blast” off the dirt… he mentioned tree sap but tree sap doesn’t cause gutter striping. What’s going on ?

When the oxidation isn’t real bad I’ll use a 2-3% sh mix applied with pump sprayer and brush, usually whitenings up. That looks around 2% from the bottle. If real bad I use GG.

That’s not just bleach in that Clorox Cleaner+ Bleach. It also has Sodium Hydroxide. What your customer did was “gutter brightening” or, stripped away a small layer of paint, which is not part of the normal house wash procedure. It’s no different than using Gutter Grenade and wiping the oxidation right off. As you know Sodium Hydroxide is a stripper.

Just looked up the SDS, makes a lot of sense now. I couldn’t at the time because I was in a rush. Thanks for that. I also informed the customer in a polite way because he was kinda cocky that bleach did the trick. Nothing better then kindly putting him back in his place lol

Could have just said “I’ll be glad to hand wipe all your gutters for you. I charge $4 per linear foot.”

I do as Kentucky1234 mentioned, the brushing is key on gutter stripes tho

Didn’t have the time due to other jobs that day. $20 off he was happy

I do the same thing but I charge an additional $1.50-$3.00 a foot for brushing tiger stripes. I do get all the algae and mildew off as part of a regular house wash though.

If I’m not mistaken it also has over 1% SH strength as well. I used it on my ladders that had some algae.
