Hotsy Vs. Other Brands

Hello all, I am new to PWA and after reading all the blogs for the last few hours I am very excited to be here. In the next 30-60 days I will be getting my business up and running, and I will be focusing on commercial, residential, and possibly a large contract with a trucking company here in town.

My first question, I am looking to get a 10’x6’ trailer and have my local Hotsy dealer do an installation. I feel like they might be over priced, but for a reason? It seems like their service is very good, and they are very reliable, but is it worth the $$$? They quoted me $11.5k for the following:

HOTSY MODEL 1290SS

20 HP HONDA ENGINE
5.6 GPM @ 3000 PSI
ELECTRIC START
HOUR METER
TEMP. ADJUSTABLE TO 248°
CHEMICAL INJECTION SYSTEM
HEAVY DUTY INTERSTATE BATTERY
5 X 10 TRAILER W/ BULLDOG HITCH & STEEL DECK
100 GALLON POLY TANK
2 – HEAVY DUTY HOSE REELS
100 FT. HIGH PRESSURE HOSE
50 FT. SUPPLY HOSE

What do you all think??

I think you should take a look what Bob Schmidt is selling on FB. Its a beautiful black 14x7 V nose black with chrome sides and wheel fenders dual axle trailer with a 5.5gpm 3500 hot water skid with only 290hrs on it. You get some hose reels, water tank, a surface machine & other items for around $9000. He lives in Albany NY. This is a way better deal then what your being offered with Hotsy.

I agree with John, with your budget you can probably find a better deal. Bob’s right is a steal of a deal… If you simply want new check with some of the PWRA vendors.

Thanks, gents! Would you all happen to have a link to any of the dealers or vendors you recommend. Although Bob’s deal sounds great, I don’t think it would be reasonable getting it to Texas.

Since your in Texas I’d go with the PWRA vender located around Fort Worth Texas which is www.Powerwash.com who’s owner is Michael Hinderliter. Whoever you get on the phone if you call you can tell them I recommended you. Also if you join the PWRA before hand you’ll get a 5% discount which adds up when you do the math. Best of luck.

So I have been doing some shopping and found a Northstar for about the same price as the Hotsy I am looking at. What is your thoughts on Northstar equipment.

I know this is a late reply but I have owned a Hotsy for 15 years and the quality and customer service is unmatched. When I purchased my first machine it was a steal of a deal. With going from 2-2.5 gpm machines to 5 gpms with tank and reels was a major plus. I told the vendor that I was not looking to simply buy a piece of equipment, because I could get a brand new machine from up the road for the same or less than what I was buying from him “used”. I told him I’m not interested in the sale, I am interested in the service. I don’t want to be on a job and have a breakdown and need to ship my equipment somewhere or travel out of area to get back to work.

Buy a relationship with a servicing provider don’t just buy equipment. Now I have two Hotsy hot water units.

The guys at Souther Cleaning Systems in Valdosta, Ga put this together.

The machine in the top pic was the original purchase complete with surface cleaner and telescopic wand. The bottom pic is the current set up. Trust me you can’t go wrong with Hotsy.
