Hey guys, im running a 3.5gpm 3800 psi pressure washer…with a 100 foot input garden hose. I needed more length so i added a 25ft garden hose extension on here. Doesnt seem like enough water is flowing into my washer now. Im reading on here that my pressure hose length shouldn’t change the performance much. Does it make sense that adding 25ft of garden hose would cause my machine to act funny?
Take off the 25ft and see if everything goes back to normal…maybe it is a coincidence
@arnermw I did try that and it did go back to normal. Just seems odd to me because the water is still flowing out of the faucet at the same rate.
Does the 25’ hose have a constriction/blockage or a built in screen/filter that would be causing the water to slow down? Also, whats the I.D. of the second hose? make sure it is the same as the first hose.
The other thing you could do is, instead of using more garden hose use more High pressure hose.
Also i can run my 4gpm machine off of 100 ft of garden hose with out a problem.
The connecting piece could also be letting air in causing the machine to not act right.
I’ve ran 450 ft of water hose and still got great pressure.
You may be on to something with the i.d. I will measure it this afternoon. The second hose may be slightly thinner. They are close, but i will find out for sure here shortly. Thanks for the input so far everyone
Edit: my main hose is 100’ and i added 25 to that with the second hose
Also check what @Donte55 said about the connection. Make sure there is a rubber seal/o-ring , otherwise it could let air in and cause slight skip’s. I didn’t even think of that.
Definitely will check both of those things out. It seems to kick up…and then bog down…kick up… and then down again
Weird…I just hooked up 200 ft of garden hose to my trailer hope I don’t have any feed issues never thought about that…let us know if you solve the mystery…I’m stumped
I just solved the issue this morning and @Donte55 was correct…the second hose i had just had a bad seal and was allowing air in the line. So I bought new hose…now up to 200’ total…and cleaned an entire sidewalk without any drop in pressure. Hopefully this thread will help someone else troubleshoot down the line
Just starting out, am i gambling only having a 100 ft garden hose, or have you guys been fine with this length. Im only doing decks, amnd patios and fences right now. Going to my first job today, I have a never kink xp, contractor grade.
Typically for me 100ft of garden hose & 100-150ft of 3/8 will get most houses done
You’ll be fine. Bring extra garden hose in case you need it.
Ive had this problem before turn your pressure down slightly untill it stops doing that. whats happening is your pump is pumping the waterr faster than the hose is supplying it, and running itself dry and then it replenishes.

No, just no.
