Hose clamps

I searched but didn’t see this discussed so what is your favourite type/brand/style of hose clamps?

As I’m ready to assemble my trailer, I’m trying to decide what are the best clamps for securing my crush resistant hose to the hose barbs (for extra security).

Looking for your feedback?

No rocket science behind the hose clamps.

Simple ones will do the trick.

Just make sure they’re stainless.

For anything permanent I band it. USA made (Breeze, Tridon, Ideal) stainless steel worm drive hose clamps for everything else.

Thumbscrews are borderline life changing. No screwdrivers. On bigger stuff like @dperez said you want some force on it. I usually just double up hose clamps and tighten them evenly with a 1/4” ratchet. Simple stuff.

Just found these bad monkeys too.

Stainless for sure, but dont buy the cheap harbor freight ones. They’re junk… lowes and home depot have basic hose clamps pretty cheap, and they’re made to withstand being cranked down.

@dperez what size bands do you use??? Is it one size kind of fits all or do you have to buy a bunch of different sizes?

Those bad monkeys are great for larger hose. You can tighten them a lot more than your basic hose clamp so they have a lot more holding power. They’re also just beefier.

I mainly use the 3/8" wide band with a id of 1" but I do sometimes use the 1/2" wide bands that have a id of 2-1/2" for my hydrant hoses. They come in all sizes and yes you can use a 8" band on 1/2" hose but that’s a very expensive way to band

Ideal brand in stainless, and band-it. Cheap hose clamps can REALLY ruin a good day.

I really like the T bolt type for my vehicles. Don’t have that sharp tail sticking out after tightening.

If they’re better they were probably invented in Germany or Japan. (Bad BMW/Toyota joke)
