Tried searching and couldn’t quite find what I was looking for.
Have seen a lot of videos on YouTube in regards to transferring SH where people have camlocks but no check valve. Is that ok or would I be better off to have a check valve like so…
Also for the guys using proportioners are you using bulkhead fittings for surfactant tank to go back to proportioner? If so, what size PVC are you using and/or does it really matter? I cut a hole into mine for a 3/4 bulkhead fitting and now am second guessing myself thinking maybe 1 inch pickup PVC tube for a 1/4 fitting might be problematic. I have very little plumbing experience and Probably should have second guessed myself before the cut but I digress
Camlocks work fine, or anything “no-drip”…they seal off so a check valve is probably just an extra fail point.
For pickup we run the hose through a tight hole in the top of the tank, thread it through a drop tube all the way to the bottom of the tank, then right to an elbow barb with a PVC slotted filter. When we had bulkheads and drop tubes then there were a lot of potential spots for to sneak into the proportioner system, especially with the SH. In the surfactant some use that, others use a weighted filter on the end of the hose.
I wasn’t able to get it completed today but put a heck of a dent in it.
Sh tank has 2 bulkhead fittings and a sealed spot I was planning on using for venting. I was going to finish setting up and see if proportioner works once it is all squared away up north.
Now that I’ve put most of it together and packed my stuff im kind of missing the ease of a 4gpm unit
Haven’t even ran the dang thing yet. One thing I’ve noticed is that my 275 tote is brittle up top. I’m assuming it’s been in the sun and hoping it will last the summer and then replace with a brand new one this winter.
you know I have a ton of their 18v tools and just bought a Ryobi transfer pump for SH that runs off the same batteries. I’ve never had a problem with them but I’m also not a contractor using them day in, day out. I have a Milwaukee corded impact wrench that I love when you need to remove/break something quickly.
I was making fun of my friends (lack of) tools while doing all this but they allowed me to get mostly everything done that I was hoping to. I bought him a nice mechanics tool kit to replace his 12 piece craftsman set he’s had since college.
The plan is to run as is and see how that goes. I don’t think the hoses are in jeopardy, but if there is an issue I’ll just run a 90 bend and vent out the side.
Will have side door and back door open while running it of course.
I have mostly all Dewalt, but I do have several Ryobi tools and I have no complaints. I buy Ryobi for stuff I don’t use often or doesn’t get abused. Vacuum, palm sander, ratchet, tire inflator, miter saw, and my edger are all Ryobi 18V. The best part is you can buy an adapter to run them on Dewalt batteries, so I don’t need to have both and can just buy the bare tool.
I have all DeWalt power tools other than the stuff I don’t use very often like band saw and whatnot that all come from Harbor Freight. Personally, I hate the color red so Milwaukee is out for me lol they do make some nice stuff though! I’m not a tool snob by any means. I have plenty of USA made Craftsman hand tools but I also have a ton of Pittsburgh stuff from HF, too. They all work about the same.
It’ll probably be fine. Hell, we used to run two hot water machines in enclosed trailers and never bothered redirecting engine exhaust anywhere. Just open all the doors and get to washing.
Very close to getting the beast running. Still need a 3/4 hose for return line, battery, and fuel tank bulb and disconnect kit and then we should be good. I’ll post a video of it after it arrives up here. Sitting in airport now waiting to fly home and truck should be here this Saturday.
