Honda gx390

I have a Honda GX 390 qaa2 on a pressure washer. One of my works let it tip over and now it won’t turn over. We removed it completely from the washer. We did everything suggested when it tips over and still won’t start. We took it all apart and it apprears that the starter coil rubs on the inside. Not sure what to do to fix it. Any help?

Are you saying there’s something on the pull start assembly that’s rubbing?

Where the starting coil Is connected to the engine, the piece it’s connected to sounds like it’s rubbing.

When I get home I can send a pic or add a clip showing you

Does it have the right amount of oil in it? That’s an absolutely serious question.

Yes, I have two with the same issue since they tipped over

Yeah, post a picture of what’s rubbing.

Have you tried taking the spark plug out, pulling the pull start 50 times or so, reinstalling spark plug, and then trying to start it?

I wonder if they are both just vapor locked.

Not 50 times maybe but we did indeed do that

It can sometimes take quite a few pulls. There was a post on here a few months back from someone who’s new washer was tipped over during delivery. I can’t remember the exact number of times he had to pull but it was a bunch. I tried finding the thread but couldn’t.

Then again, if you can actually see where something is rubbing on the flywheel (?) or wherever it’s rubbing and preventing it from turning over, I would think that it has to be the issue.

If the cover is bent hammer it back out.

I believe it’s the magnet on the fly wheel

What’s wrong with the magnet? Is it broke? If so I don’t see how the magnet could prevent it from turning over unless a chunk of it has something jammed up. I think your best bet would be to post some pictures of what you think is damaged or bent up. You made it sound like the pull start was bent in so tapping the bent section back out with a hammer like Brodie mentioned would take care of it.

What exactly is the engine doing when you try and start it?

It’s it won’t spin when using the starting coil, but can be turned slowly

How are you spinning it? Are you just slowly pulling the rope?

Pull the spark plug and see if it spins easy pulling the rope.
