Home Made Soft Wash Rig Video

I have looked everywhere I can think of for a video that was in the middle of a thread on here. A guy had taken a Northern Tool chemical applicator rig and turned it in to a soft wash rig. He did a nice job on the plumbing and I would like to plagiarize his set up. Anyone know where to find the video i am referring to? Thanks

Maybe this ?

Did he have it on a trailer or a handcart?

This?

That’s the one I was looking for. I’m looking at it for being able to better control my mix % and I have two of these systems already, I use one in the business now but I haven’t used the one at the ranch for 3+ yrs for pesticides. Thanks a lot for tracking this down. I was asking the wrong questions in my search…

Thanks for looking and the link. I’m not doing anything as “high end” as Rick…yet.

Just watched it again. I promise I am only going to use the plumbing part of his video…lol Again, thanks to both of you for looking for this. Mark

I thoroughly enjoyed the video

That’s a good little system he built. I have something similar for spraying sealer. For roofs though, you’re going to mixing a lot of batchs unless you’re doing tiny little houses.

I was initially going to “borrow” some of his ideas there, but determined, for a few hundred more, I could essentially be running directly from my truck bed, with practically the same setup (for house washing, that is).

I’m looking at it more as a house pre-treat, driveway etc. pretreat system. I have it now with 3/8" hose and 2.2 gal pump. It works well but I wanted to copy his plumping for cleaning the pump etc without having to empty the tank. I can’t mount it in my truck. I carry too much for the staining business. All of this is driving me to a larger trailer…
Thanks again for the help and input.

Rick, are you referring to seal coating cold sealer to go on asphalt? If so I really need to talk to you about how that works. It could be a big job for me. They have no one to do it and if I could do it with a rig like that… Thanks, Mark

Yeah, not a problem. I started out with only doing driveways. Now, I am starting up the house washing, so my truck bed is pretty empty, lol. But either way, I am essentially liking his method (even the cleaning like you said) to help expedite the process.

Just use a drop tube and pull it out of your mix and drop in a bucket of water

Rick already knows my primary gig is fence staining, the PW is an add on service but it’s much easier than staining fences and the margins are ridiculous so I have started offering it with almost every bid and I’m getting about 20-25% acceptance. I know I’m higher than what they could find if they searched but I make it too easy for them to get everything done at once. BTW, what spray wand are you using on the 12 v?

yep - with that wagon - it’s rated for 800-900 lbs I have my pump zip tied to side of wire mesh, battery at one end and can set anything from a 5 gal bucket to a 30 gal drum in it. Can knock out a driveway in a heartbeat.
But I also use for staining large fence jobs too. Those big wheels roll pretty good over rough ground.

I haven’t actually gotten my 12 V, yet. Trying to save up for everything right now and learn before I really get too heavy. For much of the stuff, I am only using a pump up sprayer. For light mold/mildew, I am simply downstreaming (but my mix would technically be too light to be quick…still see results, just a longer dwell time). I would easily spend my entire current day job paycheck for everything, but my wife may just divorce me at that point.

I can tell you though, washing a house with a 5.5 gpm 12v sucks. Had to do some vinyl and brick on a little office building earlier this week and was a busy parking lot so didn’t want to take a chance of someone rolling over my new pw hose. I used my 12v. Took forever, especially the rinsing.

Got to realize that with a 5.5 gpm pump at 60 psi only flows at 3gpm. Like watching grass grow rinsing with one of those.

As you know, @Racer from our talks, I am going to be purchasing the Fatboy 7gpm. I would assume that would make some sort of difference, vs a 5.5 gpm?

I never knew your 5.5 only puts out 3 gpm. Is that through your proportioner, or just straight from a batch tank?
