'Home Away From Home' Trailer Build

Turning machine is not an option. Think I will just wrap it then put some kind of barrier. Then test run machine for awhile to make sure it will be good before I mount tank

Your trailer looks great so far! I’ll be watching this post closely, as I will be doing something similar soon. Please post lots of pictures. Thank you!

@Powerwasher1 I certainly will. Taking longer than I thought it would for sure. Currently have some plumbing parts and a mandrel bent exhaust piece on order. I did get machines mounted on Sunday (don’t have pics but I will).

Currently struggling with finding a supplier with a piece I can attach to the burner so the burner exhaust can run out of the roof.

Maybe find a local hvac sheet metal worker. It might take finding an old school guy but they can make you anything you want out of thin gauged steel. It might be tough finding non galvanized locally but you can get it from a steel supplier.

Anybody see an issue with either of these roof vents for burner exhaust?

This one has a smaller opening, wondering if that will restrict air flow too much?

This one has a larger opening but has sealant running around the chimney base. Not sure if that will cause issues. If there is a flange hidden under there like above it shouldn’t be an issue. But not sure.

What say the hive?

Make sure it doesn’t have a flapper valve thingy

Yes absolutely. The one I ended up ordering has it. But should be easy enough to remove

Do you feel like the vent on top will re direct too much heat onto the roof of the trailer? It kinda angles back at the top of the roof. I guess running it and taking readings would tell. Worst case but that heat tape on the roof.

@SchertzServicesLLC honestly that thought has crossed my mind. But I am not sure. My fingers are crossed it will be alright. Will report back with that answer when I can run it

Looks great, you didn’t paint the inside of the trailer before putting stuff inside, Will you be painting the wood?

I paint almost everything grey

The wood stays clean and shiny, plus you can make things match and blend in

I spoke to a muffler shop guy yesterday and he mentioned the exhaust to floor thing like your setting up, seems like a great idea

I painted the floor and about 10" up the wall. I debated painting more, but decided not to.

how did the exhaust vent work out for you? Do you have any additional pictures of the completed project?

@Atl1glf the exhaust vent has worked good. It does point downward slightly so there is some heat directed at the roof. The roof can get pretty dang warm but I have had the hot water going 5 or 6 hours on large jobs and no damage has occurred. Roof is just black behind it from the soot. I am on the lookout for a chrome 8" exhaust stack for a semi that is curved on the end. Ha

I can get a short video tomorrow of the inside for you.

Bet the SUPER TRUCKIN guys like @Hotshot @dperez might be able to help you make a SUPER TRUCKIN stack for your burner. Chrome rollin coal is pretty freakin cool :sunglasses:

@dperez Yeah I struggled with cutting the hole in the roof at first, but then talked myself into with the fact that it could be patched shut easy enough if ever needed. Probably won’t ever be sold and I will keep it til it rots away.

Any leads for 8" exhaust stack that is curved on the end by chance? I can find them new online, but that ain’t happening. Crazy expensive.

scrap yard? A car junk yard that lets you pull parts? I could probably find one, but shipping + costs would probably kill it for you.

Good luck @SurfaceTherapy , I about bought it and walked out the door…
FYI, don’t take you wife shopping for PW bling, you wont get what you want.

She/We settled for this I was told…So sad looking.
