Home advisor lead service

I was looking into this service and it does seem a little pricey at $80 for three months and then $15 a lead. But the leads a very detailed and if you can win lets say 30% then the cost really isnt too bad for a start up company imo. But has anyone used Home Advisor? But flr the $80 for three months seem ok because they publish your name and number in multiple data bases. And if someone contacts you from thier site there is no charge. I would be very interested if anyone has a win ratio using this service.

It will work great if your pricing is the lowest in town.

I dont intend to be the lowest however, my prices are low due to overhead or the lack of. But I want to be close to what other quote out so I dont lose money. Im new so I will quickly learn if im to low or to high by acceptance of my quotes. But I was not sure on how “solid” thier leads are. Have you used them and it seems like its just am exercise or are people actually looking for the service requested?

I would stay away and invest my dollars in some other kind of advertising.
There are a lot of bottom feeders there.

I have used Home Advisor for about 2 years now. The way they allowed me to do it is I am only charged when I receive a lead. It is up to me to promptly get in touch with and receive that business. They charge depending on what service that customer is wanting. It ranges from $7 or $8 to about $23. Overall I have benefitted alot more with it than I would have without. The only negative I have had has been when a customer doesn’t correctly fill in the info on the website. I have been charged for leads that the customer will never answer the phone, or an e-mail. Just recently I had one lead that did not want washing done they wanted painting. Another wanted outdoor carpet installed on their deck. Both of these charges were creditted back to me after calling and explaining to customer service. I am in the process of having Anya Curry with Ambidextrous Services design me a website so I’m hoping this will bring leads directly to me.

Junk! Why pay for leads that they give to more than just you. Say 10 people get the lead, they make like $120 and your still battling for the job with 10 other companies. Thumbtack is better, cheaper, and give your money back in 48 hours if the customer doesn’t open your email. Still competing with others though.

I’ll check out Thumbtacks. I am in rural NW Tennessee and I really don’t have a lot of competition. All I can say is it has generated more business for me. Not promoting or running them down. He just asked if anyone had experience.

Defiantly helpful inputs all thanks. I really dont want to do my mass marketing aka door hangers. And im still workong on my website so these places that supply leads would be a nice way to control my start up without doing hours of walking or paying someone to do so. And I have done searches for other companies in my area and there tends to be very little who actually market or put their name out. So I think getting leads could be usefull.

It’s a app for your phone. Take a picture of the house, list your service and price, and customer gets postcard in mail with there house pictured on it. I use it for bids that are visually dirty with mold or roof algae.

NTXPPW, if you get in with HA, definitely don’t agree to any recurring fees. Mention you heard about them on WCR or here, and they should wave those fees for you.

We use HomeAdvisor, and it lands us some work. I’m terrible with tracking, but I think our close rate is probably around 25%-30%. If you use me as a reference, I think we can both get some lead credit for it.

The fact that they publish your company on a gazillion websites isn’t necessarily a great thing. Last I knew, they list their 800 number so you still can get charged for the lead. I don’t think they’ll give that lead to other contractors, though. I could deal with that ok, if they had a way to track the calls or see the correct # on my caller ID. So I convinced HA that I was leaving if they didn’t de-list us with their phone number, and they obliged- so you might be able to avoid all of that headache in the first place. You would probably be better off filling out all of those listings yourself (all the free ones, anyhow), and getting the leads directly. It’ll also help with the SEO for your website.

So my final analysis: HA can be worth it, if you’re willing to jump right on the leads as soon as they come in, have a compelling pitch to show why you’re a better choice than low-ballers, and are able to convince HA to meet your terms (no contract, no fees besides the lead fees, no directory citations with their 800 number).

You will end up with a lot of price shoppers with any lead service like HA or ThumbTack, but there are also those who are shopping around for the best company to work with. If you don’t provide them with any other criteria to base that decision on, people default to price.

Thanks bro. I’m finding the same problems. Sorry for my bad english^^

I just talked to a HA rep today, sounds like Service Magic waved its wand and changed its name, I think I’ll pass.

Yes I hate it when I can’t get in touch with a customer but overall I have had much success with homeadvisor
