I was asked to quote washing some holding tanks today. This isn’t something that I have done before and could use some advice.
They have a qty of 16 tanks that have a diameter of 12’ by 60’ tall. I have a 8 gpm Honda 690 and a 4 gpm pressure washers and another machine if needed and a 5 gpm 12 volt softwash system. I would have me and 2 others guys working on it.
What is the best way to figure out the amount of SH that would be used? I am assuming that I would need to be at a high % ,close to 7-10%.
I am also assuming that I would use about 2-4 gallons of degreaser per tank, for certain bad areas.
I would have to rent a boom lift and researching that cost too.
I bring up cost knowing that every market is different ect ect but I was thinking it would be close to $1800 per tank. Does that sound about right or am I way off.
Might be time to invest in a gas powered soft wash system. 60’ up the flow from your 5gpm 12v is going to be squat.
They don’t look terribly dirty except at the top. You might be able to draw a strong enough mix with your 4gpm machine for the lower 50%, which you could have someone shooting from ground. Use the 8 for rinsing. What is the dark stain, organic or what? Each cylinder is approx 3150 sq ft, which is about the same as a 2 story 20’ by 40’ house with gable roof would be.
I think that the dark spot are organic, I needed fall protection gear to get up on top so couldnt get the best look. They said that it might be bad paint too so them seemed understanding if it doesnt come off.
Yeah i was thinking that the 12V might not be great that far up. So I was thinking about batch mixing in a 30 gal tank i have and setting it up with a spare 5.5 gpm 12 v pump i have and having that on the lift.
I like the idea of using the 4gpm to pull the chem and wash with the 8gpm. I have a injector on the 8gpm that pulls around 3%.
Give the guys at cleansol a call. They are pretty helpful. They might recommend two stepping with HD and cleansol. I have used cleansol on metal buildings with growth where sh for the cleaning agent was not an option. It did help increase production.
yeah i talked to the guys at EacoChem and they said they would recommenced it if they wanted the oxidization removed from the tanks so they could be painted. I am waiting to hear back from the customer to see what they would like to do so i know what to quote.
