Facebook saves me so much time

Itās frustrating! Even if you get a guy thatās been washing, you have to re-train and break bad habitsā¦going through it myself. Nobody will ever get the job done like you would, despite all the training and their abilitiesā¦ever!!
Iām considering using a temp agency, at least they are pre-screened.
Just keep in mind the Pre screen at most temp agencies is a joke and the guy you get is making half of what your paying. Itās also one of the few jobs a parolee can get. Not that all parolees are bad, but its something to keep on mind.
The temp agencyās in my area told me that the job was too dangerous and they didnāt allow their temps to work with chemicals or climb ladders
Whatās the problemā¦donāt you know thatās how the real slim shady got startedā¦That guy has sooo much potential! LOL
Seriously though, thereās a guy Iāve noticed at the local hardware store. Heās always happy, always engaging the customers, always clean cut⦠Iām not quite ready to hire, but Iād sure like to have him in my team when I am readyā¦Do any of you guys have any insight on knowing when to take the hiring leap?
She applied today⦠Iām sure my wife would have some āinputā on that decision, lol! ā¦
Iām no expert on gangs but isnāt that crown a gang symbol? Definitely a great idea to look them up on facebook. Peopleās true colors tend to shine on there. How anyone would think itās a good idea to post crap like that is beyond me. Iād help him out with life and call him and tell him why heās not getting the job. Probably wouldnāt make any difference at all though and heād probably try and sue you.
I remember watching a segment of the news one time where companies were pushing for full access to facebook pages even to where they could see hidden content. I donāt remember all of the details but I think they wanted to keep an eye on current employees so they knew if they were arrested, doing things to embarrass the company, or falsely calling in sick.
Iām sure sheād work that other guy into the ground. Youāre right though. Best to leave that one alone! Well, then again, maybe take the wife out for a nice date night and then try and sell her on itā¦lol
Yea, I scour social media before I even set up an interview. Hereās one today where I found a little discussion about an applicantās ālegal trouble.ā SMH
I have actually interviewed several women that I thought had the qualifications (for the window cleaning side). One would have been great but she absolutely had to be off work by 4pm everyday to pick up her kid and the other said no way to climbing ladders.
Here heās worried about losing his job and then posts to where the whole world can see it. Iād be too embarrassed to tell a close friend let alone posting to where anyone could see it. That just amazes me.
I actually got a solid hire today, kid Iāve been recruiting for a while nowā¦officially accepted to start beginning of April.
I guess Iāll see how he works out.
Looking for another full timer and a part timerā¦but I may be pushing my luck lol
Blows my mind people donāt know how to make their Facebook private.
Myne is, I live in a very liberal area⦠last thing I want is the customer checking me out on Facebook.
Bad enough, google my business has a street view photo I canāt delete with a trump sign in my yard lol
In this economy you have to recruit people from jobs. Anyone unemployed probably wonāt be a good fit or last.
I use bustedmugshots.com for the car wash. Literally pull it up on the phone as Iām interviewing. Make it look like Iām taking notes as Iām researching their past. Then Iāll ask if thereās anything on their record I need to be aware of. Honesty is key here. But I like the Facebook idea as you get a better view of interviewees current state.
Crown= Latin King Gang
5 Stars= 5 star gang member(big time)
Pyramid with Eye= Illuminati/All Seeing Eye
Bulls hat= Loyalty to Chicago
Dude looks like a punk but if legit and probably is because youād get killed just for walking around with that hand if not legitā¦That dude is a Bad MoFo!
5 Star Chicago Latin King with ties to the Illuminati = prob does hits for the Illuminati
Amazes me he applied for a job as they make $1000+/day slingin that dope!
Unless heās trying to do the right thing but once you get involved with the Illuminati thatās tough to get out of alive. They donāt take chances on āTalkingā!
They usually use gang members to make a hit/murder on high profile persons then week later hire another gang member to kill the first one.
Nobody cares when a gang member gets whacked so it just goes away quietly and then no worries of Talking about the first hit.
What do you guys do for a no-compete agreement? Do you have an attorney write one up, or do you not use one at all? (Please forgive me if Iām derailing this threadā¦Iām happy to start a new one if you guys would prefer it)
You would think with a $1000 a day they could afford a better tattooist.
Worked many years in Corp America. It is very common to do full social media background checks on any applicant. Hiring is expensive in every way possible - actual hiring process, training, reduced productivity, mistakes in work, accidents to equipment, etc.
I believe @Patriotspwashing stated - if someone is unemployed these days, they are generally unemployable then. Your best best is networking, talking to folks everywhere and building relationships with people over-time then recruiting them away from their current job. This process is slow, takes time but produces the best long-term results.
Stay away from temp agencies - you will pay more for the workers. If you pay the temp agency $14/hr, the worker is probably only getting $10 and you never know what you will get until they show up for the day. We tried them in our catering business and it was a joke of a mess.
Pay for full criminal back grounds checks as well. It is not expensive compared to hiring the wrong person. Convictions do not immediately disqualify a candidate, just more information to make a decision. Some convictions do dis-qualify (sexual offenses, violent offenses, etc) but you can also test their honesty by asking if they have anything in their background.
Do multiple interviews. I like to pick early morning to see how they are first thing in the morning. Do they show up on time to interview? I like to meet them outside say a coffee shop furthest from the front door and then walk briskly to the front door and see if they keep up. Do they have a natural pep in their step? Slow people tend to move slow, fast people tend to move fast. I like asking a lot of questions, many that have nothing to do with the job. I really want to get to know who this person is especially if I am going to spend 8-10 hours a day with them. It is more than an interview - it is almost a date.
Some of the questions I ask -
What are your personal values, moral and beliefs?
In school - what were your favorite subjects?
Did you play sports, in band or other group activities?
What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?
What interest do you have? What kind of music do you like?
You and I are playing ping pong. The ball falls off the table and into a hole. Without using your hands, how would you get the ball out? (This is evaluating their problem solving skills, how long it takes for them to come up with a solution, and value or quality of solution provided)
How well do they speak? Do they use a lot of slang? How they talk to me in the interview is EXACTLY how they will talk to the clients and customers.
How do they look? I donāt care if you have long hair, beard, etc. but do you take care of yourself? Did you come dressed and looking to impress or did you just leave a pick-up basketball game and put no effort into presenting yourself for a job interview.
Edit: Look for āraw abilitiesā more than experience. As someone stated, experience is not always good. Bad habits or mentality that they already know what they are doing usually is more of headache than what it is worth. What is a pressure washer looking for in a hire?
Good with mechanical things.
Physical labor - we are on our feet all day, hauling hoses, doing physical work.
In relative decent shape - 5ā9" and 250 lb aint the person for the job unless they are ājackedā in which case, they still aint the person for the job. If you need to know why, message me and iāll share.
Speaks well, appearance is good, attitude is positive.
I tend to look for people who this job would be a forward movement in their life. Say their last job was making a few dollars an hour less at a restaurant. This would be a step-up. People who make more in their last jobs are only applying for a āsurvival jobā. If they are taking a step back, they will only do so long enough until they find a job at their past level - could be pay, title, industry, etc. The person who averaged $2 an hour more at their last several jobs is not going to stay around very long so not worth the risk.
I know of several companies, who pay 6 figures for management level people with NO EXPERIENCE in their industry. They look for the āraw talentsā and proven stability both personally and professionally. Hire that person and then train them in the industry they way they want it done. Works very well for them.
Could I hire you to do my hiring, LOL
