High risk job this week but not the usual. Picked up a 3 day $5800 job from a property manager. He failed to tell me this property is a court ordered living facilitie for repeat violent offenders that can’t be out in society…his words were “adult foster care”. It’s been the first time Power Washing that I felt like I had to be aware of surroundings from other people.
Witnessed multiple fist fights
Employee was verbally threatened
Another guy did ninja moves towards us (it was hilarious)
Flipped off dozens of times
Have to be let in and out of secured fences
Employees of the property won’t make the residents go inside in fear of starting fights
We had 44 other properties lined up for this same company throughout Michigan but emailed him today canceling the other properties. Told him that we will finish this property but will not be doing work for them in the future as it is not a safe environment for our employees to work in. The fact he wasn’t forthcoming on what his properties actually were kind of made me mad to…zero heads up.
I did an apartment that was income based. Went ok but had a few times where I thought people were in fighting moods. Had some dirt ball say “dang girl you work it hard” to Blaire while she was washing. I was in earshot and walked over. He quickly recanted and left the area! I did feel like it being a lower income I was more likely to find a lawsuit.
yah, ive washed plenty of section 8 apartments. 4 in the last few weeks and 6 more on the books. Most are just one building, small apartments. All of them have HUD inspections coming up, Ive had no issues there though.
That’s unfortunate. I would try explaining the situation to him. Have them provide security and a staff member to deal with the people living there. Add a clause to the contract staating that if people won’t comply with your requirements those areas will be skipped out something along those lines. 45 properties at $5000+ a piece is no small potatoes. Personally I’d be all over those jobs.
