Heavy white smoke

Have a pressure pro hot water unit. Went to use the heater and noticed heavy white smoke when off the trigger. Unit fires and burns with minimal smoke. However, when I stop spraying or when the unit reaches temp, it pours heavy white smoke from the exhaust. After a couple minutes of use, I noticed excess fuel dripping from the bottom of the heater. Any ideas?

Never had a Pressure Pro hot water unit but I imagine most burners are similar in design. Look underneath the burner and you should see the fuel filter. Somewhere nearby there should be an adjustment screw that controls the fuel flow. If you are getting too much fuel it will smoke due to not burning it off completely and it can sometimes soak the insulation in fuel which will take a while to completely burn off. Adjust that screw until you reach the desired amount of fuel.

Keep in mind, I know absolutely nothing about your unit I am just basing this off of my experience with other brands.

The dripping fuel could be a leak somewhere in the coil or it could be the insulation soaked with fuel.

Thanks for the response. The unit has a Beckett Burner if that helps. I’ll do some more investigation on adjusting the flow. Wasn’t sure if its a fuel issue or an air issue. I may have the local service rep come fix it. Don’t want to risk doing any harm. Thanks again.

By the way since no one else has said it. Carry a fire extinguisher with you.
