Hard Water In Washer

Why is my unloader and sediment trap so rusty and full of hard water stains? And my water tank continually fills up with this bull crap even though I have an inline filter before the tank. I bought this rig this way with the stains, but even after cleaning the tank it gets like this again

Dang, what is your TDS in the area??

Idk I’ve never checked. I don’t have a wfp system yet I’m not really into window cleaning

This is how my lines start to look too

If you fill up a glass jar, does it look like that?

Not at all. That’s why I’m stumped. This is how the water that dripped out dried onto my trailer, too

My outfit will spit a half second of rusty water from the pressure line when I first use it, probably from the reel. If you’re getting rusty water in the tank, just do a process of elimination until you figure out where it is coming from.

Get a cheap TDS meter off Amazon to test supply water, then assume the rusty water is coming from your supply reel or fittings.

Agree with @dcbrock, find the worst offenders and start replacing those parts. Who knows what the last guy did to the equipment, but it’s not unheard of that sometimes SH gets back into the buffer tank.

put a couple gallons of bleach in your tank to take care of that algae then drain it. Every so often my tank will turn green and i’ll bleach it.

Might want to consider putting a whole house water filter on your trailer

Would down streaming vinegar help flush out my lines? My new washer arrived today so I got my old one off, got a new water tank, and I’m doing all new lines so everything is fresh. Now all I’m worried about where it could remain is in my hoses and hose reels for my feed hose, pressure hose, and Softwash hose and reels

Something like this?

I just got a new washer and all new tanks, and I’m replacing all of my lines, so I’m starting completely fresh other than my hoses and reels. How can I flush and clean out my hose and reels of any rust?

That should work. I saw another that someone had used on their trailer, think it was a 40gpm version of this one, which is 20gpm. see link below. Make sure you get the 20gpm one at least.

But I kind of like the clear one so you can see when to replace the filters easily.

Here is the video on his, see about the 13:30 min mark. His is a 40gpm, but he’s feeding multiple machines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlEXAeAq00w&t=355s

I’m gonna have to get a filter soon too, my Hudson valve keeps getting jammed with stuff. I have one on the machine inlet at least.

This is our source hose. Easy set up. If threads get janky it’s an easy fix vs entire hose

Why would your threads get janky? Been using hoses for 70 years, not sure I’ve ever had janky threads, lol

Not happened yet but it was just a double protection idea. Small filter and a just in case protection.

I use cam locks, which is a similar principal… but I don’t use a screen. I’ve seen enough larger crap come through my banjo filter after my buffer tank I’d be afraid that screen would clog easily. Just run the spigot for a few seconds before hooking up to clear anything inside.

We do that too. Run for 30 seconds or a minute. Still have had debris get caught by the screen.
