Hannay Reel & Cart Question

I’m about to finally invest in a Hose Reel however i don’t have a trailer yet so i wanted to mount it on one of those Reel Carts (othwerwise i would have no need for the cart). I’ve been pressure cleaning for a few years but finally took the step last year to be on my own. I dont have investors or a lot of money. Just the money i make goes back into my business to help me keep expanding. Last year when i got started, i was rolling up my hoses and putting them in industrial sized tubs you get at Home Depot (a pain in the a55 but you have to start somewhere). So, as i said, now i am looking into buying a Hose Reel and a roll around cart.

I am trying to make sure i invest my money properly and through all the reading ive done on this forum, it seems like everybody raves about the Hannay hose reels. So, thats the route i intend to go and i’ll be buying this one…

Originally, i was going to buy either GP or Cox Reel and then buy one of the matching carts so that it was quick setup and i could be on my way but i am a person who like to invest in myself. So i would like to buy the Hannay Reel and mount it on a cart for a while until i get a trailer and can just move it from the cart to the Trailer.

So, my question is, what cart can i buy for the Hannay reel so that it will fit? I researched and found no cart that Hannay makes that would directly fit. I was wondering if anybody knows if the GP or Cox Carts would fit a Hannay reel. I put them below incase anybody hasnt seen them before…

Cox Cart:

GP Cart:

Does anybody have the dimensions of the 1520-17-18 Hannay reel as well as the dimensions of the bolt holes? And does anybody have the dimensions for either GP or the Cox cart as well as dimensions for the bolt holes in that?

Please let me know your guy’s thoughts on this. Thank you very much.

Seems like it will be easier to stick with no reel until you can mount the reel somewhere. It’s gonna be a pain picking up the weight of 200’ hose, reel, and cart.

Price is decent. 300’ of 3/8s may be bigger than you want. Personally I’d probably skip reels until you have somewhere to mount one. I am newbie though!

@Harold well this is how i have my setup right now for my truck. The ramps are a huge help so im not worried about the reel and cart

Good deal. Wish I would have thought of that when working out of my pickup. I had a small machine though.

My machine is about 200lbs with a full tank. Plus i have the Ford tailgate with the step and the bar that raises up. So basically i just hold my machine with one arm, hold the lifted bar with my other arm and just pull it up the ramps and into the bed. Works pretty good i must say lol

With 200’ of hose you should be able to leave washer and reel in pu bed, no?

Yes i could but my truck is also my personal truck. So i dont want to mount it to my truck and it would still need to be put in and taken out each day.

I’ve seen several guys use a plastic pallet to mount them to. Fully removable.

Yea i could always make something which is what i’ll probably end up doing anyway. i just wanted to see if the GP or Cox carts would fit the Hannay Reel in order to make it easy for myself as a quick fix until i buy my trailer hopefully at the end of the year.

You don’t have to keep taking your machine out the back of your truck when u get to a job. Keep the machine in the truck run your main water hose to it then run your pressure hose. As long as u have about 200 feet of pressure hose u should be able to reach around most houses. Then at the end of the day since its your personal truck u remove the machine.
Then u can also do the same thing with the reel, just keep it in the truck and remove at the end of the day, no cart needed.

Well thats pretty much exactly what i plan on doing but i will still wanted some easier way of getting it in and out of the truck. Thats why i was wanting something on a cart with wheels. plus for easier moving around once i take it out of my truck at my house. I was hoping the GP or Cox carts will fit the Hannay reel. If not, i can just manufacture something.

Get a folding dolly that can handle 200 lbs and strap/weld it to that.

hannay makes a cart, page 6 or 7 on link below. $260 is a great price too.

Are you trying to build a business? Or who cares if it’s your personal truck. Mounting ur washer, hose reel, a small buffer. (Your machine pulls over 5gpm) small chem tank will save you so much time and headache.

Are you worried about it getting stolen?

@Patriotspwashing thats excactly what im worried about lol. I dont have a house with a a garage right now and i live on the 2nd story in an apartment. Hopefully buying a house in the next 6 months if this one me and my wife are looking at goes through. So currently i keep all my equipment in our spare bedroom and have to haul everything in the elevator up and down whenever i have a job.

If you bolt everything down…hard mount it, it would be very difficult to steal.

But i get the concerns.

Yea absolutely and trust me i thought about it but i figured if im buying a house soon and buying the trailer shortly after that i dont want to hard mount anything to my truck and ruin the bed liner or anything like that. Ive been a weekend warrior for a little under a year now being on my own since i still have a full time job at the moment. For just the weekends though, work has been steady and i do good honest work and all my customer have been happy with the finished results. Im hoping in 2020 to be full time since i have a baby on the way (due in september) and i’ll need to hold my health insurance until my wife starts working again (which should be in 2020) then we can rely on her health insurance and i would feel comfortable going full time.
