So this was a new one today. One of my hose reels started leaking at the handle manifold. Anyone have ideas on a reason this happened and/or fix to the issue? I know you run Hannay @Innocentbystander and have lots of experience with them… Any ideas?
The manifod looks like this, so I be inclined to think you could fix it, or replace, like $175 iirc.
What was leaking and how did you fix it?
It was the riser, like pictured above. Hannay warranteed it for me and I then spent way too long trying to get the drum apart to replace before just deciding to order a new reel in the end. Everything was super seized together and even after days of soaking in penetrating oil and beating the hell out of it with a mallet, I could never get the thing apart
You still like the Hannays?
I’ve never tried anything else personally, but the reels are definitely durable, and aside from that issue, they haven’t caused me any problems.
Those manifolds are only $60 I usually get less than 1 year out of mine
Any tips to get the old one out? I could not get the threads to loosen! Tried bull and jamming with wrenches, mallets, and pry bars, as well as soaking with penetrating oil.
Are you talking about the 4 long bolts that’s goes through the drum . If so best to just cut them off . You can pick up some all threat from any hardware store for a few bucks and cut it to size .
You still use them? I have Steel Eagle reels and haven’t even changed the swivel in the 4 years I’ve had them. They are in an enclosed trailer though.
I’ve got some hannay and some Titan roof cleaning kills all of them pretty quickly
