Gutter/Fascia Oxidation

Does anyone have alternative methods for attacking this stuff? SH takes care of some, but the fascia on this place is very black/oxidized and very rough to the touch. I’ve been using F13 with a good brushing and its been producing decent results. Thought of trying EaCo chem HD Britenol, but like Cleansol BC, I have yet to purchase. Does anybody have experience with the HD, or have other approaches they would be willing to share? I would love to be getting the bran new look, but I feel like this condition is almost impossible to bring back 100% Any tips are always appreciated! Thanks

I usually bust out the pump up for certain areas if there are heavy organics. If you’re talking about gutter brightening that’s a whole different ballgame compared to cleaning the face of gutters as part of a house wash. You have to be careful with brightening because there’s a fine line when it comes to removing the tiger stripes or all the paint down to bare metal. The more oxidized the gutters the more careful you have to be. I use Gutter Grenade but some degreasers will work too. There’s also gutter butter and a couple others. @mikehallyall talked about one he uses that doesn’t remove the paint but I can’t remember what it’s called. I’d like to get some though just to try.

Unfortunately the product was discontinued. I use a product from my local landa dealer now called 409 (not the stuff you buy at the grocery store). It’s not as good, but it gets the job done.

Okay, maybe I need to downstream straight 12.5 from now on. I usually do 3-4 gallon to one gallon of water. As I read here, it seems guys are knocking houses out so quickly and I wonder how… sometimes I feel like i spend so much time trying to clean soffit, gutters and fascia that I could never get close to that quick. I brush gutters and downspouts on every job! Thanks for the tips. Just trying to improve efficiency!

I am running a 5 gpm pump and achieving right around 11:1 through my injector. I can’t see straight SH causing issues. I am a bit paranoid of damaging stuff, which is why I still dilute in the bucket a little.

I use Gutter Grenade but used LA Awesome and worked great too, but be careful.

That’s organic.

When I had a 5 gpm I would mix 2 gallons of water and 3 gallons of SH to down stream. That’s with really fresh SH. If you’re buying it in gallon jugs it might be older so you might need to go straight.

When soaping the house mist the gutters and soffit like normal. Then, pull out a shooter nozzle and soap the gutters with high flow. Wait 5 minutes and soap the gutters again if need be. I know we don’t use the second story rinse nozzle for rinsing houses but put it on just for the gutters. It’s pretty high pressure and usually cleans them up pretty good. This is only for the really bad ones. Normally a couple applications of SH will do the job. Don’t rinse in between the two applications. Do 3 apps if you need too. Have you tried a couple applications without rinsing in between? I sometimes have to pull out a pump up and I’ll use like 4%. Be careful of windows. Just pre-wet and instantly rinse after spraying. I just use the cheap pump ups from Wal-Mart. If I really pump the air into it I can usually hit second story gutters with a tight stream from the ground. 4% will clean just about any organics on gutters and soffit.

Bleach mix first. Rinse. Gutter Grenade second. Rinse. I like to use the Zep brand high output chemical resistant spray bottles from Home Depot.

Doesn’t that require getting on a ladder?

Washed two homes today. Treated the soffit and gutters. They weren’t near as bad as the pictures I posted, but they did come clean. I still brushed exterior of the gutters out of habit, but only used SH and surfactant…no gutter grenade. I was happy with the results. Thanks for the information. It is always nice to hear different opinions on accomplishing a similar goal. Thanks!

I’ve seen a few posts where people were using Zep to remove fallout as well. Have yet to try it. I tried a mild degreaser and it worked pretty good. Not sure it would be strong enough downstreamed though. I’m waiting on an order of cleansol bc and HD britenol from Eaco Chem to try for fallout removal. Really hoping I can downstream it and have the chem strong enough… excited to try it.

Maybe. I’m talking about a specific spray bottle I like to use for Gutter Grenade, made by the Zep company that’s really popular at Home Depot. Never tried downstreaming Gutter Grenade, but I suppose it’s possible… But the spray bottle can shoot up to 30 feet distance and you could use an extension pole with a brush attachment to clean from the ground. I would usually just use a ladder though to get up close.
