Gutter clean out misery = pass?

So been trying to add on gutter clean outs and so far here in NC it’s been miserable / should have declined. All have been full of such heavy muck/mud and everything else that it all had to be hand scooped every 6-12 inches. Issue is that people want to pay 150 and it seems like a pass. This is several inches thick and blowing out isn’t an option.

How many of you run into this and the only option is to pass? I really only want to do it as an add on to not lose business to another “all in one” company.

I have a minimum to show and try to include gutter cleaning as an addon, not stand alone because it’s not worth it to me. If they want gutters by themselves I charge about double what you are charging. If they don’t want to pay, they can do it themselves and I don’t get dirty. Win/win :joy:

i just sweep it all out with my washer. it blends into the grass just fine. whatever didn’t i pick up. its not a big deal, just organic matter.

I used to do that BS, super thick and I’d have to scoop by hand and they weren’t too keen on it being in their yard.

Tack on ants, hornet nests and general organic stench I just quit doing that service.

pbbbt! i don’t give them a choice. my way or i don’t do it. which is rare anyway.

The one I just did also had the shingles extend half way into the gutter, I could barely get a scoop in them.

Ah yes the shingles. Forgot about that.

We charge $1.50 liner foot. We tell them we will drop down to $1 if it’s really not that bad after we are done (maybe weird to do that) but no one wants to pay that price either. Had ten bids this year for gutter clean out and not one took it. Not mad at all about it.

I bought out a company that was heavy into gutter cleaning 5 years ago. We kept the service for 1 year before I pulled the plug.

Unless you have / are able to build route density, the margins are terrible. Its not like parking outside of a house for a few hours and making $500+, its more like Doordash with a ladder.
