Greetings from Switzerland!

True, not nearly as good. Hard to beat Maine lobster. I love the roadside stands you can stop at and just eat lobster at $5/lb.

I don’t see those down here at least non that I notice. Lots of BBQ and some shrimp stands though. But the shrimp is frozen.

Yeah but you’ve got the roadside stands with the grilled fresh grouper in the Keys. That’s almost as good as the ME lobster

Haha I’m still 7 hours from the keys. Just bbq and hotdogs stands around here. Man I haven’t been to the keys since I was a kid. I really should take I ride down there some time. I have friends and family that live there.

Hey, 2 of my favorite food groups. But you’ll have blackened red fish with black beans and rice. Can’t get that up here.

We used to do day trips down to Shawnee all the time. Garden of the gods is awesome! I forgot if youre south or north of St. Louis. Ft Myers FL was a cool place. I went there some years back. Pretty beaches. First day was cool, then i got so burnt i was almost purple. :disappointed:

I suggest taking the train up to Wegden. It was gorgeous, at the very top you can see the peaks of the alps and its a breathtaking moment. They have food and beer up there too but be sure to break out the pocket book, for two waters and two spagettis for my wife daughter and I (didnt even give us meatballs) cost us $60! CRAZY expensive in that town but they charge what they want. Switzerland in general was very costly, I personally enjoyed Germany much more and the bill goes much further. Black Forrest was jaw dropping. 800 A.D. castle ruins.

Sorry for the late response, never tried the shrimp here. But the German food was literally the best tasting food Ive ever had. Largely in part due to the people here have perfected their sauces over 500 years haha. So many places have been around for centuries. its a whole other world.

Sadly, I had the chance to be TDY in Germany when I was in the USAF, but there were concerns about ‘skinheads’ attacking US military personnel so didn’t get to go. I really regret not getting to see Europe.

Reminds me last when in France, we were staying in this older Chateau and my son, who was about 15 at the time, says ‘They’re bedbugs here older than our country’. I still laugh about that, but when you see the churches and other buildings built over a thousand years ago, some of them would be architectural wonders now. Incredible the effort and manpower that must have gone into it.

Yea, some old buildings are amazingly beautiful, i wish architecture today looked like that

Look at Isla Holbox its in Mexico but its a small island off the coast of Cancun. No giant resorts running the place down, no cars, no tech just you the beach and great food. One of the coolest thing is the whole island practically stops when the sun sets and there is a loud drum that beats in the distance.

I think we decided to rent a motor-home and drive down to the keys for a week. The next trip will be our “honeymoon” somewhere like what you suggested.

How much does a rented motor home cost? I didn’t realize that was a thing. Sounds interesting. Would be great to rent one to tailgate in Atlanta when the saints go to the super bowl

Hands down that is what blew my mind the most over there. The age of everything and the fact that these buildings still stands was incredible. Walked in a castle that has been standing since 700 AD!

Yes, but I bet it needed a good cleaning! :+1:
