Gpm vs psi

Hello everyone
i have searched the boards and haven’t found the answer that im looking for.
I know that GPM is better then PSI because i can use a bigger SC and clean faster. But my main question is why should i get a 3000 PSI instead of a 2500 PSI washer? What situations is the higher PSI needed? thank you

Depends on what you are using the machine for. The extra psi is needed for longer length of hose. This matters for flat work when you want the psi above 2000 psi. Every hundred feet i thinks you lose 100 psi. This also differ depending on the size of the hose. If your trying to push 10gpm through 3/8 you loose even more due to friction loss.
For residential 2500 psi is fine, for flat work like parking lots, parking garages, you will want the extra psi. If you can swing it get the extra psi to just have it.

Actually, if you’re running 8 gpm the loss is more. See chart. If you’re just going to be washing house with just an occasional small driveway, a lot of people use like a 5.5 with 2500.
