Looks like some of you southerners might be getting some ice and freezing rain. Better go get some calcium chloride today.
Good luck, stay safe, and do a test run on your generator today.

Good advice ! Its going to get interesting @Dirtyboy , We’re going to use our weeping guns next week to keep from freezing up during washing then run our wash hose’s back to buffer tank at idle while moving to different sites. We’ll definitely earn our keep next week. Yall stay safe as well Sir.
Yup, started the genny today, put a tarp on the 4runner, took the battery out of the trailer. I don’t mind snow at all but these BS ice storms can pound sand.
They are not forecasting much of an accumulation for us, thankfully we are still in the snowfall band. Hopefully it stays that way.
I keep a bottle of isopropyl alcohol around for locks, beats using the torch. Walmart sometimes has quart bottles for about 2-3 bucks.
Good point, I just bought a bottle of isopropyl. I’ll never forget the time I was in Omaha, I went in to get some dinner at a restaurant and an hour later my car was covered in a half inch of ice. The water got behind the nonexistent window seal and froze the lock mechanism.
You are a pro, so I am not worried about you, but I need to add the following so someone doesn’t blame me for their non functioning brain.
If you use this on a car lock, or a car window, make sure that you don’t let the full strength alcohol sit on your car’s clearcoat for an extended time. Like everything else, either dilute and use - or rinse afterwards. Better yet, if you aren’t sure, do both, dilute and rinse. Better add this, rinse after the application, not before.
They’ve been saying we’ll get anywhere from 1" - 20" for a few days. Looks like we’re in the 5" - 10" stretch officially.
Same here but they’re calling it an “ice sandwich” so snow, ice, snow again then a polar blast. They said the salt on the roads probably won’t work.
Heavy pre-treat application on sidewalks and driveways and watch the first 1” of snow melt. At least, that’s how the salt brine mix worked when we applied it out in Colorado. 2 for 1 - cleans the drive and deters winter weather build-up…hopefully
People here in Missouri do not know how to drive in snow.
A friend’s son of ours goes out when it’s really bad and spends hours pulling people out of ditches. He really likes it. Did it so much he got a medal by the city for it last year.
Mid week they were calling for 10-15 inches, Friday it was down to 5-8 inches, today (with the snow expected tomorrow) it’s down to 2” or less… wouldn’t mind having a job that I could be wrong about and not get fired.
You aren’t wrong, but the media loves scare weather. It generates a lot of revenue for them, clicks on sites and eyes on the tube. The only other job you can be completely and utterly wrong, and people will still support you is a politician. I mean lets face it, not everyone is held to the same high standards as us washers
@qons ,I bet ya’ll are getting hammered now.
We’re below you just getting rain until this evening then a dusting possible, Our county hits your state in Thayer Missouri.
You may tell your wife or girlfriend that’s 7", but that’s clearly about 5-5.5" lol
You don’t know the size of his deck… I’ll see myself out.
We got round one and are at about 6". But round 2 is coming in a couple hours.
I’ve been up in northern Missouri a decent amount but haven’t gone down south much.
You guys don’t normally get that much do you? I almost feel bad, almost. I have equipment and experience, so although it is never fun, it isn’t that hard to remove
I’ve been here since 2009, we did have an 18” event but yeah typically 2-3” is the norm
Ratio for the isopropyl alcohol ?
