General pump 8 gpm TSF2021 water inlet TRUE sizes?

mine came with a 1" brass inlet fitting for 1" ID hose but the 1" inlet fitting is the outside , the actual flow is 3/4 on the inside where the ribbed part is. The port on the pump apears to be a 1" thread. i have not taken it off to see the inside but i assume it just steps down to 3/4" on the ribbed part. I see brass fittings on Amazon that are 1" thread and 1 1/4" for 1 1/4 hose but then the actually opening on the ribbed part will be 1" instead of 3/4" . The machine came like this and I’ve used it for about 200 hours with everything seeming to work fine. looking for thoughts . thanks

So what’s your question? 99% of us run the same. A 25’ long 3/4 hose with only 40psi, flows 36 gpm.

Are you talking about the inlet tube from the buffer tank to the pump? 3/4” ID is what most people use. If that’s what your asking

I thought for anything over 7GPM 1" feed from buffer was recommended with 1-1/4" being ideal… I think Udor even recommends 1-1/2" for their 8 GPM pumps.

When I was researching how to set up plumbing, yes it said 1”+ for 8gpm everywhere online, the few washers I know locally with 8 gpm are all using 3/4” tho. One guys got over 2k hours on his gx690/tsf2021 and it works fine. For the record I have a 4gpm with 1” feed hose tho, built it to be ready for a 8gpm one day

BradenC on the pump

The inlet to the pump, yes, I know guys running the same setup as you. It’s fine.

1” or bigger ID hose would be better, and like OhioMoFlo mentioned it’s what manufactures recommend, I’m sure the pump would appreciate 1” ID more than 3/4” ID.

He’s got a 1" line. You can put a 6" line on it but the inlet port on the pump itself is only 3/4". Most of us run 1" because we feel like it gives us some extra uumph or whatever, but I know guys that have run 3/4" line for years and have never had a problem.

The inlet on their regular 8gpm pump is 3/4" also. On the Penta version which is a 5 cyl 4500psi pump it goes up to 1.25, but no one in our industry uses, since we don’t need 4500psi. The pump alone is $4900 discounted. The msrp on it is 10k.

I think it all depends on the length of the suypply line. For example if you are running " pvc pipe to the machine and then use a 2’ link of 3/4 line you would be totally fine. However if you are running 20’ of 3/4 line you may need to bump up to 1" I would run a hard PVC pipe as close as possible to the machine and then use whatever you got, 1 or 3/4".
