Gearbox first oil change?

Looking cloudy, probably 8 hours? When should I do the initial change?

I think first oil change is at 50 hrs. Then 500 hours after that…

For a gearbox?

If you shine a light on it, looks a bit glittery.

I haven’t changed the oil in my gearbox for 3 years. Still looks clean🤷‍♂️

Not to worry, Its residue and micro bits from the manufacturer assemble, Thats why they suggest you changing it early. Look at your manual for oil change intervals.

That’s ok!

Run it for 50hrs, break it in… Then it’s 500 hours after the first break in oil change… I do mine yearly

Yeah, didn’t come with a manual or any instructions.

That milky residue is an anti rust spray that’s applied to bearing surfaces to stop surface rust while sitting on a shelf, the Metallics are your bearings and gears going through a seating process it’s nothing to worry about. rs500 boxes you would change the first oil at 50 hours of use then 1000 hours every oil change or every year witch ever comes first.

Well did. Yeah ,What Muscle said @dcbrock .

Awesome, thank you!

Dcbrock, does your surface cleaner have relief cuts in the brush skirt?

No, is that needed? Water does seem to build up a lot.

Thats what Im thinking the problem is. Its like tying to clean thru a puddle. Mine too tho, ever since I used it in a 5.5. On the 4gpm, it wasnt a prob since it wasnta whole bunch of water in the way.

I think my Hammerhead has the relief cuts but my WW Classic does not. I don’t see it hurting anything to cut some in if you think it would help.

Yep, im gonna do it. In the frontal area.

Same here, 8gpm builds up fast.

Also, thinking of switching to four 2503’s so I don’t have to use an ankle weight on the SC. It really wants to fly away now.
