Yep, Can’t rely on Uncle sams grid all your life. Some folks like to take matters in their own callused hands.

Yeah I forgot a mule and a flat leather belt would work too

Electric motors turn at one of like 3 speeds. You can gear it or put a gear box on it, but trying to source exactly the right speed motor is not the way to do it. You want make a decision on a power unit, then you want to design power transmission to your driven shaft. I reccomend pulleys. Cheaper and less expensive stuff to go catastrophically wrong with pulleys instead of gear boxes.

Contact your local industrial supply shop. Build a relationship with a salesman there. A good salesman will source your parts for power transmission just given the specs of the drive and driven shafts, HP, center line, ect. He’ll source your motor too. Ask for a vendor list while you are at it, because you may be surprised with all they can get you. They may even be willing to open an account with vendors of your choice if you anticipate being able to buy a certain amount from them per year. Open an account as well with a reasonable credit line. Tell them the parts you frequently need and they may agree to keep a few on the shelf for you.

Purchasers have a much better relationship with manufacturers than consumers. They can get you a better price even with their markup than you will be able to purchase them yourself on anything more expensive than 100 dollars, so you will save cash. They can tell you what parts are garbage and what can give you longevity and help you make decisions with your design. I have 3 salesmen for industrial supply on speed dial and my christmas card list. No joke, they are good people to know, and can get questions they don’t know answered. Don’t believe me? Price anything on the grainger website, then call and ask for a quote on the exact same part.

But I second the advice of pricing it all out before you give up on fossil fuels. Electric motors can be just as expensive or more expensive than their gas counterparts and you wouldn’t have to get new power transmission, which can get pricey real quick. Check around for used engines. FB marketplace can be your friend when it comes to small air cooled engines, or sometimes not. Just my two cents being a project kinda guy.

I have pages of accounts the few that I know of that would deal with electric motors all showed no interest in looking into it for on pressure washer unit. I finally got recommended to a old electric motor repair shop that deals with big ■■■ motors to small ones and he sat down and ordered the motor and told me bring it back if it doesn’t work or come back and we can work on pulley sizing if we need to.

Wow…your supply people suck! Is there a reasonable amount of manufacturing in your area? I’m half way tempted to ask where you live and try to find investors to open a decent supply shop!

Single phase motors are going to be a little pricey because they are sort of specialty in the sizes we would be interested in to turn a Pw pump, but ask your guy about the possibility of running a 3 phase motor on a single leg. He may have a larger motor that could handle the load on a single leg that he could part with on the cheap.

I usually don’t tell my supply guys what I’m actually doing because they can dismiss people who don’t manufacture. I just say, “listen, I need a motor rated for such and such, and then power transmission to a X sized driven shaft at such and such HP, y service factor, centerline between q and z. Lead time not to exceed such and such. What options do you have for me?” They take an afternoon and then the following day I get a phone call with options. I ask for a quote and an invoice with terms. Sounds like you have to fight people to get them to take your money and that is never a good place to be.

South louisiana
They rather deal with the crashing oil field customers then farmers sometimes.

Dedgum oilfield suppliers…have you tried cussing at them? It’s very possible that vulgarity is the only language they understand if they spend all day speaking to tool pushers and leasemen.
