Gas Air Compressor Issues

My brand new gas engine powered air compressor is giving me problems. I’m stumped and looking for some help.

  1. It sounds like there’s always air leaking. I’ve tested all the joints I can reach and nothing seems to be leaking.

  2. it cycles between running and idling even when no air is being used - verifying air leaking?

  3. It will run for a couple of minutes (cycling between full and idle the whole time) and then just shuts itself down.

FYI, the regulator is set to 90 psi if that matters.

I’m waiting for the manufacturer to weigh in but does anyone have experience or some ideas I can try in the meantime?

Have you checked the unloader valve?

First and foremost that’s one ridiculous rotary screw rig. I’m very very jealous! I’m getting one for myself this Christmas since you want to try and show me up. Mine will have to be bigger tho!

The leak is likely your pilot valve venting to atmosphere. I hate setting them up so have fun with it.

Seems like a problem with the unloader. Maybe the high and low settings are too close together so it keeps cycling over and over. My pump is good up to 100psi so maybe bring your regulator up and see if it stops cycling. If it does then find out how to lower your low kick in setting.
