I have never used Gardena fittings before as i thought they looked cheap. However i have just tried them as they came with my waterfed equipment and they are really practical, and look stronger than i thought.
Is there the slightest chance it would be a good Idea to throw some on the 12v setup? Or they won’t take the 100 psi and they’ll come undone and throw sh in everybody’s eyes?
Online i see they are rated for 145 psi apparently. Would these and flexzilla hose be safe?
I haven’t explored them much but they appear to have a very restrictive bore on them. I also see one model that has an internal check to stop the flow when the plug is removed that could even be more of a restriction there depending on how it was designed. I wonder if they offer CAD files available to download so I could have a look at it???
I use the cheap ones from Amazon with my soft wash setup and they work fine. They are very convenient, and I’ve had very few issues with them. They do wear over time and can leak a little, so I replace them occasionally. I doubt they would hold up long running bleach through them though. My setup doesn’t.
The question got me thinking and searching and I ran across these Eley fittings. They look really nice and have full flow and a 10 year warranty. They are pricey though, but if you only need a few probably worth it. For me, I would need about 10 sets, so not really worth it.
This site did cost me $92 though. Found a garden hose splitter with a third middle port that I really like and also their garden hose nozzle. All stainless and brass with a 10 year warranty and the grip looks really nice. I’ll be trying this with my setup.
i just bought one of those eley splitters myself, it arrived yesterday and seems quite beefy and high quality. Feels like it weighs a pound and a half. The washers in it arent flat, they are round like pressure hose washers. 40ish bucks, but a 10 year warranty…
That is not as uncommon as you think. Using o-rings there doesn’t give you much contact since the face of a male GH end can only touch so much of the seal unless you really crush it. Flat EPDM really is the ticket for a GH washer.
Agreed, very beefy and top notch quality. I’ve broken about 4 cheap splitters over the past couple years, so I wish I found this one sooner. The spray nozzle is the same high quality. Might actually be too heavy, but I’m going to try it out and see if I like it. The on/off thumb control is way smoother than other guns I’ve had.
