Four Year Warranty on Roof Wash?

Researching my competitors, and stumbled on to this:

" Fortunately we have a solution to the problem in the form of a roof wash that is applied with low pressure and surfactants that are added to help it adhere to the shingles for 20 minutes so it can eradicate the algae. After the application we use a low pressure rinse to remove the dead algae and roof wash. In some instances we need to make a second and third application depending on the severity of the algae. Afterwards it is treated with an algaecide that provides a protective barrier to deter the return of the Roof Algae. Our roof cleaning service comes with a 4 yr. written Warranty from the date of service."

Has anyone heard of an algaecide that protects for 4 years? I haven’t met these guys by by all accounts they’re really good guys. I just don’t understand how they can offer a 4 year warranty unless they’re upcharging and giving a prorated guarantee.

I think a lot of sws guys do 5 years right? There’s some trickery to it but that’s what they advertise I believe

4 years isn’t really that long. It’s probably just a sales tactic. Depending on location algae usually takes longer than that to appear on untreated new roofs. I washed a house today that was 6 years old and had no sign of algae on roof. I’m in NC just east of Raleigh for reference.

Ask them if a house wash receives the same warranty if not, why not?. It’s a marketing ploy for bigger ticket sales, warranty sells and SH is cheap.

They probably still won’t be in business by then!

Kinda what I thought. AND, if pro-rated, on the 4th year they’d only get 25% off the regular price. If they marked it up 50%, THAT’s a guaranteed winner.

They’re firefighters, two of them, and dsoing it for years. I expect that this is their retirement plan.
