I am renting out one of MIT-M’s hot water machines and I am confused with how the burner turns on. When I was at Sunbelt Rental the guy showed me how to use the burner and showed that it works. Now when I am trying to use it 3 hours later the burner is not turning on. I have the switch in the on position and I have the unloader valve set to about 3000psi. I start the machine like normal let it run for about 1 minute then turn on the burner. After 5 minutes squeezing the trigger the water is still not warming up. I know i am missing something here.
If someone has seen a thread explaining everything that needs to happen in order for the burner to start I would love a link. Thank you.
Video to help dummy check your startup steps. I’m sure you’ve done this.
Those MIT-M’s are as simple as flipping the switch. They don’t have a thermostat or anything. Check and make sure the diesel tank is full. I would also try different nozzles on your wand. I’m just thinking if the nozzle doesn’t give you enough flow maybe the flow switch or pressure switch isn’t working like it should. If that doesn’t do anything something is wrong with it which could be the flow switch, fuel issue, igniter, etc. If you rented it take it back and swap it out.
Look for a circuit breaker too.
Ok I took off the surface cleaner and then the burner fired up, I guess there must have not been enough water flow to trigger the flow switch? Thanks @marinegrunt.
Yeah, that’s probably why. What surface cleaner are you using? How many gallon is the MIT-M? LIke 3.5 gpm? You might have to swap nozzles on your surface cleaner. I’ve used an MIT-M once when my hot water machine wasn’t working and it worked fine when I had my surface cleaner hooked up.
I just re-atatched my surface cleaner after the burner turned on and the hot water is staying on now. I just have to start everytime with the SC off I guess. I am using the $149 Lowes surface cleaner on wheels.
Got gloves? Mine gets pretty hot, I don’t own that particular brand. THe QC is where you will “feel the burn”.
