Hey guys, doing my first house wash tomorrow. Planned on the standard recipe of 2gal SH 3gal H20 and 4-5oz of Dawn. Using my xjet M5 to hit the peaks. Has anyone ever had an issue with surrounding vegetation with that strength of mix? I planned to wet everything down first, wash the house, then wet the plants down thoroughly.
Also, does dawn make a difference from any other dish soap? I have heard it does, but just from one person.
As long as you water everything down you’ll be fine. If there is no delicate landscaping I don’t even bother watering anything down first. I’ll just hit it all when I do the rinse. I’m injecting straight SH though so your mileage may vary.
I did my first house wash yesterday. I was down streaming with 12.5 SH, surfactant, & some grip in a bucket. I don’t have my skid kit (which will have a 12 volt pump) yet so I turned the pressure down on my pressure pro and used a second story tip. Wasn’t really sure what kind kind of percentages I was actually getting out of the gun but is was sudsing on the wall good and although I had to second hit some areas, it came clean. As this was my first job, I was nervous about all the landscaping vegetation since it was clearly getting a coating of my mix. I wet every thing down real good before, during the dwell time, & after the rinse. I did not know if so many rinses on the vegetation was necessary but I wanted to be safe & not sorry. It went well but I definitely felt like a rookie. Anxious to get more experience & improve my process & comfort level.
@DanC, you don’t want to touch your unloader. Instead, get a “j-rod” nozzle holder with a set of softwash tips from pressuretek or one of the other vendors here.
That’s an exciting feeling, starting out in business and learning something new
